PB hotel design editorial

At Le Planellet, on a quiet slope above Megève's medieval village core, a cluster of stone-and-timber chalets assembled from reclaimed materials gives Four Seasons Megève the convincing weight of buildings that have always been there. Opened in 2017 with interiors by Pierre-Yves Rochon — the Paris-based designer responsible for the George V renovation — the property comprises 55 rooms and suites spread across structures whose pitched roofs, dry-stone plinths, and aged larch cladding mirror the vernacular farmstead architecture of the Haute-Savoie valley below. Horses visible near the entrance terrace reinforce that rural register; nothing about the massing signals the scale of a conventional hotel. Inside, Rochon navigates a deliberate tension between Alpine rusticity and polished contemporary comfort. The guest rooms resolve this in two distinct registers: some lean toward pale oak four-poster frames, ivory linen, shearling accent chairs, and abstract monochrome rugs that keep the mountain backdrop as the visual anchor; others deploy cork-effect wall panels printed with forest motifs, cowhide-pattern upholstery, and lacquered brass nightstands that shade closer to a sophisticated hunting lodge. The restaurant shifts the mood entirely — ebonised dining chairs with red leather seats, leather-wrapped columns, and a geometric stone floor in dark and warm tones carry a confident Art Deco pulse quite separate from the chalet exterior. The spa pool, framed by white fluted columns and a coffered glass ceiling, opens fully toward the snowfield outside.

Four Seasons Megève Reviews

"We stayed at the hotel in early March as a group of friends. It’s been a few years since I’ve travelled to a four seasons and it’s everything I remembered. The staff treat you like a rockstar even if you don’t look like one. Every single aspect of our trip was supported and covered to perfection, from the breakfast staff, to the concierge, the ski shop and front desk they are all beautiful human beings, human, real and at the very top of their craft. Not once did they put a foot wrong. I damaged my phone upon arrival in Geneva and within an hour at the hotel they had a solution to get it fixed for me whilst I was on the slopes. Their restaurant reservations were perfect and very fitting for occasion. As beautiful as the hotel restaurants are, I would recommend going into the local village at least one night as it’s very quaint and the restaurants have a wonderful vibe and nice to walk around outside after a hard day skiing. In terms of facilities, and rooms, please do no worry we had one of the smallest rooms and was fabulous, it’s been a while since I slept so well. In regards to the skiing, I was very surprised at the quality of skiing, it’s been years since I’ve found such impeccable conditions especially in March. They comb and groom the slopes every night plus the ski in ski out facility at the hotel works like a dream. This is a fairly quiet facility perfect if you want some privacy and to get away from the crowds of more tourist areas. I thought it may have been too quiet for me but loved every minute and can’t wait to go back. I’d give it 7 stars if I could. First class"

"Booked dinner….arrived and was told we had to sit on stools at a counter. very smiling staff where so sorry that the booking wasn’t acceptable but take it or leave it. its 8.00 pm on a freezing night…. Offered the casual dinning room…very attentive waiter … food only 3 star 10 chefs and my chicken was like undercooked rubber…. And I tasted the difference between what my wife ordered and I received ( same choice)But I got a free coffee In my younger days I’d have a row but now … brother it’s your arrogant smiling loss. It shows you how easy it is to screw up a good brand….we will never use 4 seasons facilities anywhere. Young staff feel if they are smiling and “ oh I’m so sorry” that’s that is the end of the matter… well it isn’t…they have lost two high rollers that travel off peak…. For ever ….you only screw us once. Never let any client walk out unhappy they talk bad about you for ever."
