PB hotel design editorial

A nineteenth-century bastide on the edge of Castelnau-le-Lez, its cream rendered façade and terracotta cornice rising four storeys above a lawn framed by stone pines and holm oaks, provides Le Domaine de Verchant with the kind of provenance that cannot be manufactured. The estate's working vineyard surrounds the main house on three sides, situating the hotel within a landscape of genuine agricultural purpose rather than decorative pastoralism. The glass-fronted extension grafted onto the bastide's ground floor — visible in the images as a contemporary conservatory volume — announces the property's central ambition: to hold a serious Languedoc wine estate and a design-forward boutique hotel in the same frame without apology. The interior approach pursues that same productive tension between old fabric and contemporary gesture. Suites in the main house carry white upholstered headboards monogrammed in silver, oak-plank flooring, and photographic art printed large — a quieter, more intimate register. The duplex suite visible here is a different proposition entirely: a floor-to-ceiling channelled leather headboard in matte black, swivel lounge chairs with stitched leather shells, a charcoal shag rug, and LED cove lighting in violet set against white walls and pale ash floors, the effect closer to a Milan showroom than a Languedoc mas. At the pool terrace, teak-framed sofas upholstered in white, rope-woven chairs, and limestone retaining walls look out across the vines toward the garrigue beyond.
