PB hotel design editorial

At the corner of Rue François Ier and Rue du Boccador, within the tight geography of Paris's Golden Triangle, a classic Haussmann corner building — its limestone facade articulated with wrought-iron balconies, carved cartouches, and a mansard roofline of blue-grey slate — was transformed into Grand Powers, a 50-room hotel that navigates the particular challenge of making nineteenth-century bones feel genuinely alive rather than merely preserved. The interiors, shaped by designer Chloé Nègre, achieve this through a palette that presses the building's heritage into productive tension with something more spirited. Guest rooms are washed in pale powder blue, original marble chimneypieces left intact beneath gilded Baroque mirrors, while deep navy velvet headboards with brass-trimmed integrated lighting and burgundy velvet chaises longues introduce a chromatic confidence that keeps the period architecture from tipping into pastiche. Herringbone oak floors run throughout, and botanical-print curtains filter the iron-railed balcony light with an almost residential ease. Downstairs, the bar introduces a different register entirely — brass fretwork screens, antiqued mirror panels, Calacatta marble counter tops, and floral-upholstered fringed armchairs arranged around gilded café tables on chevron parquet — while the restaurant's coffered white ceiling and diamond-patterned stone floor anchor the ground floor in something closer to the building's original Beaux-Arts gravity. The effect moves comfortably between grand Parisian apartment and knowing contemporary hotel.

About

Among the Parisian buildings which hold the most extraordinary stories, there are hotel windows behind which are the loveliest dreams. Nobly established right in the heart of Paris’s Golden Triangle, the Grand Powers Hotel has shared in an adventure with connoisseurs of beauty and travellers from around the globe since 1920. After welcoming guests for almost 100 years, the hotel is being rejuvenated, a total transformation from the inside out. The haussmannien architecture, typical of the quartier is revisited with new decor inspired by the best elements in design: Italien sensuality, Parisian chic and old English cosiness, with the intention to provide new experiences for its guests who have come to revel in its elegance.

"Had a wonderful stay here! Our room was large, immaculate and beautifully appointed. I think my favorite amenity was the heated towel rack. Didn't hear a sound from the street, or from other guests. The staff were all so kind and helpful. They must have noticed from his passport that it was my husband's birthday the day we arrived, as there were lovely balloons and a "happy birthday" sign when we got to the room. As it's physically difficult for me to travel, it was well worth it to stay here."

"The Hotel Grand Powers has long been our destination for our stays in Paris. I can't say enough about the management and the staff who have always been kind and generous. There are likely many hotels in the city that provide quality rooms and facilities, but it has always been the people who have left us no doubt of where we will stay in the City of Lights."

"This was a fantastic hotel. It was centrally located and easy to get to. The staff was fantastic. They were attentive, they thought about things we needed before we did, and they were so personable. They were an exceptional staff. If you are looking for a luxury hotel in Paris, I cannot recommend this one enough. Truly a lovely place."

"We come to Paris every year and this year we stayed at Hôtel Grand Powers for our babymoon, and it ended up being one of our favorite stays in the city. The room was surprisingly spacious by Paris standards and incredibly comfortable for a week-long stay. The location is fantastic (right near the Champs-Élysées) but on a quiet street so it feels calm and relaxed instead of hectic. Everything was spotless the entire time (it felt like every day we came back and there was a new little treat!). The staff were wonderful across the board, but we especially loved Lola at the front desk, the doorman and our friends at breakfast every day. The entire team there was warm, professional, and just so kind to us across the board. Overall it was a fantastic experience and we’d absolutely stay here again on our next trip to Paris."

"Really nice luxury property, however the team they have in place are exceptional. Eleanor and the front desk team gave us an exceptional welcome, and managed our stay beyond expectations. Christine and the concierge team went out of their way to book us the best tables, and guide us with our activities. And William and the guys in the bar/restaurant gave impeccable service. I can see why this hotel is so highly rated on all platforms. Will definitely stay here again"
