PB hotel design editorial

A Haussmann-era building on the Boulevard Haussmann itself, its creamy limestone facade punctuated by elaborate wrought-iron balconies and a deep crimson entrance surround, sets the architectural terms that Hotel Bowmann then proceeds to complicate in the most pleasurable way. The 53-room property, which underwent a complete renovation to reach its current four-star form, sits within one of the 8th arrondissement's grandest residential streetscapes, the building's Second Empire detailing intact above a ground floor dressed in black awnings trimmed with gold lettering. Inside, the design navigates between Haussmannian ornament and mid-century modernism with considerable wit. Guest rooms preserve gilded rococo wall cartouches and plaster crown moldings while placing Eero Saarinen Tulip chairs and tables on herringbone oak parquet beneath them — the tension between those two registers is the whole game, and it works. Teal velvet curtains pool against floor-length glazed doors; tan leather headboards anchor the upper-floor suites where a terrace opens over the Paris roofline. The restaurant spaces embrace the same duality more theatrically: one room swathed in scarlet velvet drapes and dark grey boiserie with an ornate gilt cornice, another arranged around a dramatically veined black-and-white marble bar beneath a faceted gold pendant that echoes the geometric language of Tom Dixon. The overall atmosphere is closer to a well-edited Parisian apartment than to a conventional hotel interior.

Hotel Bowmann Paris Reviews

"Nice small hotel with a very good staff and well located. It Bowmann is rated as a five star but what makes it shine are employees like Omar in the welcoming restaurant/bar and Erich as the Hotel’s major domo. The housekeeping staff is good, as is the front desk m. My only complaint is the quirky soap dispensers need some attention. We had a relaxing two weeks here. What makes this hotel exceptional is a great staff and comfortable rooms."

"This is a well positioned hotel with delightful bedrooms and attentive staff. It has a gym, pool and spa which are unusual in central Paris. Our room was beautiful and only spoiled by the electronic curtains closing on their own! My only other complaint would be the restaurant which has a restricted and poor menu which stopped us eating there. It seemed very popular with business people over lunch but empty in the evenings and I’m sure this is why. Fortunately it is 20 minutes walk to Le Minet de Galant, one of the best restaurants in town."

"What a joy to stay here in this beautiful and luxious space! The staff was top-notch and the accommodations were definitely stellar! The pool, sauna, hammam area were so refreshing after a day of walking around the city! It was very easy to get around the city and to the airport on Metro and RER only a short walk away! All interactions with hotel, staff for amazing and very helpful, including the front desk and concierge! The really lived up to their goal to fulfill every request for guests! On future trips to Paris, we would definitely consider returning here!"

"I’m so glad I fell for the hype on social media! After scrolling through endless Paris hotel tours on TikTok, I landed on Hotel Bowmann in the 8th, and it absolutely lived up to the aesthetic. The Room: I booked the Haussmann Executive room, and let me tell you: it is a literal gem. If you’ve traveled through Europe before, you know hotel rooms can feel like glorified closets—not this one. It was incredibly spacious and dripping in that effortless "Parisian chic" vibe. And…The bathroom. It’s all marble with heated floors and heated towel racks (a total game-changer on chilly mornings). Service & Vibe: The staff really makes this place feel like a home away from home. I looked forward to seeing the doorman every day—he was so welcoming! The front desk team was also top-notch, giving me personalized tips every morning that helped me navigate the city like a local. Amenities: The on-site restaurant and bar are stunning. Even if you aren’t staying here, it’s worth a visit just for the decor and a cocktail. Plus, the location is unbeatable; you’re just a short stroll from the Champs-Élysées but tucked away enough to avoid the heavy tourist noise. If you’re looking for luxury, space, and a staff that actually cares, stay here. I’ll definitely be back."
