PB hotel design editorial

Just off the Avenue des Champs-Élysées, where Rue Kepler cuts through the 8th arrondissement's Golden Triangle, a Haussmann-era limestone facade — its iron balconies and carved stone pilasters perfectly intact — signals the particular ambition of Hotel Keppler: to work within the conventions of Parisian grandeur while quietly subverting them. Pierre-Yves Rochon, who also guided the Four Seasons George V renovation, oversaw the interiors, bringing a confidence with monochrome contrasts that gives the 39-room property its distinctive character. The facade's cream stone at night, lit against matte-black signage panels, carries the feeling of a couture house rather than a traditional palace hotel. Inside, the rooms move between two moods with assurance. Some play the graphic card hard — matte black walls anchored by grids of black-and-white Paris photographs, geometric carpet in a bold hexagonal repeat, lacquered black bedframes with nailhead detailing against white linen. Others take a softer approach: toile-style wallpaper, herringbone parquet, Louis XVI bergères upholstered in houndstooth, and warm gold coffee tables. The salon, arranged around a carved marble fireplace, layers animal-print cushions, bronze greyhound sculptures, and velvet sofas against steel-framed glazing that frames the planted courtyard beyond — a composition closer to a well-edited private apartment than a lobby. The breakfast room, its chairs upholstered in botanical-print fabric, extends toward that same garden through full-height black-framed windows.

"There is a very good reason we return to the Hotel Keppler when staying in Paris. Its central location off the Champs-Elysees, a short walk from the Metro makes it perfect for visitors looking to explore the city.. Its décor is a delight, timeless, smart and relaxing. Rooms are beautifully kept, without exception quiet with all the facilities expected of a top-end four star hotel. The excellent buffet breakfasts even include a glass of champagne. Though the hotel does not have a restaurant [it is surrounded by them] room service is really good. But it's the staff and personal service that really make this hotel somewhere we are inevitably drawn back to."

"Hotel is nice, great quiet location but super close to the champs-elysee, and really nicely decorated room, great breakfast! Fantastic front desk lady (she works long hours). Rooms are small but is nicely done. kind of expected in paris central area. One thing I am not familiar is that the bell service carried the key for me and helped me to open the door. I have no lugguage. When arrived at the room, he pointed me where the air con is, where the coffee machine is, what is the wifi pass word, here is my complimentary water, how to order room service... there is an awkward 3-5 seconds between us looking into each other's eyes, between each introduction. I clearly did not prepare any cash and I was not expecting to tip, coming from London. I felt really uncomfortable at that time. It maybe a normal thing in Paris but it's also new to me from my business trip from the last years. I was always given the key at the reception and I go to the room myself. I would still recommend the hotel as it's really nice overall."
