PB hotel design editorial

Tucked into Place Saint-Sulpice, where the 6th arrondissement settles into its quietest and most literary register, Hotel Recamier takes its name from Juliette Récamier, the celebrated Directoire-era salon hostess whose nearby apartment made this corner of the Left Bank a centre of Parisian intellectual life. The Haussmann-era building's bones are visible in the entrance hall — vaulted plaster ceilings, limestone pilasters, a black-and-white diamond-tiled floor — all preserved with the kind of careful restraint that keeps a small Paris hotel feeling like a private address rather than a heritage exercise. The interiors, conceived by decorator Jean-Louis Deniot's studio following a comprehensive renovation, give each of the 24 rooms a distinct character while holding to a shared palette of warm taupes, ochres, and deep tobacco. Fabric canopies suspended from the ceiling above the beds reference traditional French lit à baldaquin without the weight of four-poster timber, and each room pairs at least one piece of contemporary photography or African sculpture with mid-century desk furniture and sunburst mirrors framed in lacquered wood or feathered resin. A trellis-screened writing alcove visible in the suite images brings a garden-room quality to interiors that would otherwise feel purely urban. The overall effect sits comfortably between the scholarly and the sensual — which, given Recamier's own legacy, seems entirely appropriate.

About

Discreetly nestled behind the trees on Place Saint Sulpice in the heart of Saint Germain des Prés area, Hotel Récamier is about to become a new exclusive address in Paris. The hotel should meet the expectations of travellers in search of confidential addresses such as those exchanged between well travelled and demanding friends.Half of the 24 rooms have a direct view on the place. The rooms have been superbly revamped by the renowned interior designer Jean Louis Deniot who was inspired to create 24 entirely different rooms with one theme per floor. On a classical basis he has added some eclecticism inspired by the various 20th century decorative styles. You will find neither hyper exuberance nor minimalism: here we are talking real Parisian elegance.

"Great experience. Loved the small hotel feel and friendly staff. Location put us walking distance to all places we wanted to visit."

"This is a lovely boutique hotel. It was quiet at night, but has lots of action nearby during the day. ( Someone mentioned hearing church bells ringing , but we never heard them). The metro station is right across the place, and there are always taxis. Definitely walkable to Louvre and Notre Dame. Great location ! The bedding and towels are so nice. The tub shower was fine for us, but would definitely be challenging for older people without good flexibility. The bathroom lighting is quite nice for doing makeup. I was hoping for a slightly larger room, but we managed to get two big suitcases laid out. Our one complaint is we could not find plugs that stayed on when the lights were turned out, except in the bathroom and by the desk. Breakfast is nice, but at peak times, tables aren't available. It's a bit pricey in my opinion. The staff is so friendly. They make you feel really welcome when you come snd go. I would stay here again but make sure you get a deluxe room if you went to have large suitcases fire station"

"Récamier is perfectly situated in a quiet tree filled plaza adjacent to St Sulpice church. Great location for walking on the left bank. We have stayed here many times and continue to return because of the long term caring and efficient staff and rooms which are comfortable and reasonably priced for the value received. Highly recommended."
