Paris hotel with an Eiffel-engineered restaurant ceiling and 1914 Haussmann façade, reimagined with geometric oak panelling and a São Paulo-inspired bar.

Best for: Architecture enthusiasts and Belle Époque collectors

Highlights:

  • Glass-and-iron restaurant ceiling engineered by Gustave Eiffel
  • 1914 Sélonier limestone façade with carved cartouches and iron balconies
  • 2014 renovation by Champsaur: oak marquetry, brushed-gold sconces, contemporary art-deco bar
Belle-Époque-contemporary

PB hotel design editorial

The glass-and-iron restaurant ceiling at 25 Rue Vernet was engineered by Gustave Eiffel — the same structural mind behind the tower visible from the hotel's upper floors — and it remains the building's most arresting argument for its own existence. Albert Joseph Sélonier completed the seven-story post-Haussmann limestone façade in 1914, its carved cartouches and sinuous iron balconies placing Hôtel Vernet squarely in the Belle Époque tradition of the 8th arrondissement's Golden Triangle. When François Champsaur took on the centenary renovation in 2014, he chose not to preserve that tradition in amber but to pull it into conversation with something more alive. What Champsaur did with the 50 rooms and suites is particularly sharp: warm oak panelling covers the walls floor to ceiling, shaped into geometric marquetry, with brushed-gold sculptural sconces sitting where period plasterwork might once have been expected. The bed throws shift from coral to fuchsia, ikat cushions add pattern, and marble-drum side tables introduce a quiet sculptural note without fussiness. The bar is the most emphatic statement — an orange-lacquered curved back-bar under a ceiling painted with bold graphic figures, more São Paulo biennial than grand Parisian hôtel. In the restaurant, beneath Eiffel's vaulted glazed dome, blue leather chairs and a vine-patterned rug in deep navy push the historic envelope just far enough to feel genuinely contemporary.

"Great location and a beautiful, if small, boutique hotel. Have stayed at the Vernet a couple of times now and always very impressed with the room, (the bed and the bathroom especially) and the service. I had left my passport and wallet in the safe on my latest trip and the hotel just made it as stress-free as possible to retrieve these hours after check-out. Will be returning!"

"We spent an incredible five days at Hotel Vernet, and it was a flawless five-star experience from start to finish. Tucked away on a quiet side road right off the Champs-Élysées, the hotel serves as a peaceful, beautiful reprieve from the bustling summer crowds. The boutique feel of the lobby, bar, and restaurant spaces is wonderful, and the rooms are remarkably spacious by any Parisian standard. The building directly across the street was undergoing construction during our stay, which slightly hindered the street views. However, this was not a detractor for us at all. The noise was never a nuisance, work didn't start until after 8:00 AM on weekdays, and they didn’t work over the weekend. The absolute highlight of our stay was the phenomenal staff and their meticulous attention to detail. They truly made us feel like family. We loved the thoughtful daily deliveries of water and pastries, especially the sweet touch of American flags on our muffins for the 4th of July. It is easy to see why this hotel has previously earned Michelin recognition. The concierge team was equally outstanding. They seamlessly arranged our airport transfers with VIP pick-up and drop-off, which was worth every penny given the long summer airport lines and new European travel processes. They also perfectly executed our requests for celebratory flowers and champagne. If we return to Paris and stay in this neighborhood, we would choose Hotel Vernet again without hesitation."

"Excellent 4 night stay with my two teens in a Prestige Room. We loved this hotel. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful from the moment we arrived until we departed. The room was very comfortable for 3 people with plenty of closet space and a nice sized bathroom with double sinks. The pullout couch was very comfortable as well. Would definitely recommend this hotel if you want to stay in the 8th. We also made use of the metro which was a short block away."

"Wow what a great experience and an amazing hotel. I usually don’t leave a review but I really want to give this hotel a proper call out for exceptional service. Overall the hotel provided a 5 star experience. The location is amazing, the property is beautiful but what made it even better was the staff! At check in Marie was amazing and every day at breakfast the general manager came to greet us and make sure our experience was amazing. The food and service at breakfast was also amazing, especially Jamal, he was super nice and incredibly helpful. Do yourself a favor and book this hotel, you will not be disappointed! Thank you team at Hotel Vernet for a great anniversary experience for my family!! Amazing job to the entire team."
