Achille Champy's 1915 façade on Boulevard Raspail has always been among the more quietly authoritative addresses in the 7th arrondissement — Haussmann in its limestone bones, Art Deco in its arched entrance canopy of steel and glass, thoroughly Parisian in the way it refuses to announce itself. London studio Michaelis Boyd took that restraint as a starting point for Le Grand Hôtel Cayré's 2024 renovation, the debut property for lifestyle brand Miiro, and worked against it with rooms that carry a warmer, more personal atmosphere: arched headboards in fluted oak or woven check fabric, mustard armchairs with rounded backs, checkered wool rugs underfoot, and pendant lights in woven raffia that suggest a 1920s Moroccan souk filtered through a very good Parisian antiques market. French artist Mathias Kiss painted the grand staircase, giving the building's structural spine an unexpected painterly charge. The 123 rooms across two buildings share a palette of warm cream, terracotta, and deep navy, but the public spaces are where the Roaring Twenties reference lands most confidently. The bar features a curved golden counter ringed by high stools upholstered in patterned silk, tiered Murano glass chandeliers hanging above, and banquette seating in olive leather. The dining room is darker and more clublike, its walls hung with a dense salon-style arrangement of framed paintings and drawings that reads less like curation and more like accumulation — the kind of room that takes decades to look this lived-in.
