PB hotel design editorial

At number 19 Avenue de Tourville, just a short walk from the gilded dome of Les Invalides, a pair of late-nineteenth-century Haussmann buildings was transformed in 2016 into Le Narcisse Blanc, a 37-room hotel whose interiors navigate the particular challenge of making classical Parisian architecture feel genuinely sensual rather than merely formal. The facade visible from the street — dressed limestone, wrought-iron balconies, plane trees casting dappled light across the entrance — gives little away about the warmth within, designed by Pierre-Yves Rochon's studio working alongside the Doerr family who own the property. Inside, the palette runs almost entirely through ivory, champagne, and pale gold: boiserie panels traced in gilded beading, slim pendant lights in brushed brass, crushed-velvet armchairs upholstered in taupe and stone. Upper-floor suites frame the Eiffel Tower through mansard windows above original white marble chimneypieces, a juxtaposition that Paris manages without effort but few hotels actually earn. The restaurant extends into a glass-roofed winter garden, its stone arches and copper pendant lights grounding what might otherwise tip toward confectionery. Below the building, a spa corridor finished in pale travertine and Carrara marble lines a backlit pool with the focused calm of a private atelier — less grand hotel wellness suite, more considered refuge. The overall effect places the hotel closer to inhabited apartment than destination landmark, which, in this arrondissement, is precisely the right register.

"The hotel has an excellent location in the quiet and pleasant 7th arrondissement, close to many major sights as well as lovely restaurants and bistros. The welcome was professional yet genuinely friendly, and the lobby gives an elegant and stylish first impression. Upon arrival, we were offered an upgrade. While clearly well‑intended, it initially felt like a slight downgrade since we had booked a room with a private terrace but were instead given a mini‑suite on a higher floor without one. However, the suite itself was comfortable and nicely decorated in harmonious, light colours, and we were ultimately satisfied. One detail stood out, though: the bathroom featured a shower curtain used to cover a window, which felt a bit odd for a hotel of this standard. The hotel has a restaurant and a spa, which we did not try on this visit. The fitness room was very small, with only a stationary bike, a treadmill and a few free weights. It met basic needs, but the room was extremely hot with poor ventilation. A big plus, however, for the attentive staff who thoughtfully brought us bottles of water. The lobby bar was a disappointment, especially as it usually plays an important role in our hotel choice. The photos online made it appear much larger; in reality it was barely bigger than a walk‑in closet. On our first morning we ordered breakfast to the room. It was generous, well presented and very French in style. Overall, this is a pleasant hotel with a great location and friendly service, and it can be warmly recommended despite a few shortcomings."

"We stayed for three nights. Our room was beautiful. So much attention to small design details. Housekeeping kept our room immaculate. All the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. It eas a wonderful stay and we would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a hotel with thoughtful, personalized service in a small boutique hotel in a great location."

"Stay here for a feeling like you are home. Very very quiet and in the heart of Paris near everything! One of the best hotel stays my wife and I have ever had. The customer experience is what you always dream of when staying at a boutique hotel. The hotel sent a standard email ahead of time asking for our arrival and upon getting there at noon they had our room ready. Room clean and packed with beauty. Note welcoming us. Daily cleaning and turn down service. Love how the lights turn off and on with your room key. Daily breakfast fantastic. At check out called and set up a cab to airport. Every day was perfect. Thank you!"

"My stay in Paris could not be better. My wife and I rendezvous'd my daughter working in Switzerland, making the comlex arrangement with multiple reservations. The hotel staffs made real nice and generous arrangement with upgrades and no the need for repeat check in and out. The location of the hotel was very nice. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Everything was very good, raising the bar for the stay in Paris. We feel like we could go no other place when we visit Paris."

"Very good experience for my 2 nights stay at Le Narcisse Blanc, the staffs took a very good care of our group, loads of careful attention. They have a very nice restaurant with a new chef. The room is spacious and good attention to details, well prepared in the evening by the time you back from your time outside. The bar is cosy and a good place to enjoy a drink at the end of the day. Thanks for the service."
