PB hotel design editorial

Tucked into a narrow Haussmann-era street in the 1st arrondissement, just a short walk from the Place Vendôme's jewellers and the Tuileries gardens, Le Roch Hotel & Spa opened in 2017 as a 37-room property designed by French interior architect Anastasia Ioulkina. The Lutetian limestone facade — black awnings, sculptural iron window boxes trailing greenery — maintains the quiet civic composure of the surrounding streetscape while the teal front door signals a more particular sensibility within. Ioulkina's interiors move between a restrained Parisian palette and something more emphatically graphic: charcoal feature walls set against white plaster ceilings, beds upholstered in deep forest-green velvet, brass-framed nightstands in dark walnut, and custom geometric rugs that pull terracotta and teal into loose dialogue with one another. The bedroom walls carry scattered oval timber discs in place of conventional headboard panelling — a detail that gives the rooms their strongest identity. Downstairs, the glazed restaurant opens onto a planted courtyard through steel-framed windows, low swivel armchairs in teal, cobalt, and terracotta gathered around green marble-topped tables on patterned encaustic tile. Below ground, the spa pool is lined with dark slate and bracketed by exposed timber ceiling beams, tall iron lantern stands holding candles along the water's edge — a more meditative register than the floors above, and the clearest sign that Ioulkina thought carefully about what each level of the building should feel like.

"Amazing hotel! The small number of rooms at this boutique type of property is great for the staff to get to know each guest and deliver personalized service. Marcel in the bar, Louis in the restaurant and too many others to mention in this short review! Rooms are great and location is fantastic. Any negative reviews would discount since I travel globally and will be returning in the future no question. Love this property and the staff!!"

"Fantastic location and a very quiet hotel. Walking distance to lots of cafes and many of the museums you want to see. The staff is very friendly and responsive."

"We were greeted by a lovely young lady at the desk when were arrived very early in the morning. She did her best to get us into a room by 12:30 as we were exhausted from traveling. We loved this small hotel. We had room 203 which was SO quiet and comfortable. The room was clean, large and had a sauna in the bathroom which was really a bonus. The bed was so comfortable. I wish there had been 1 American news station on the TV as it is nice to relax after a long touring day before dinner. Breakfast in the lobby was delicious and the gentleman who work there are very nice. Most places of interest are within walking distance along with restaurants and train stations. (20-40 mins walk) Although this hotel is affiliated with Marriott Bonvoy they do not guarantee any Titanium perks but they do their best to accommodate your needs."

"This might be my first hotel review, ever, and what is more unusual is that we have several more days left in our stay. I want to sing the praises of the excellent staff here, as they are genuinely worth commenting on. (Note: I am a "picky" traveler to begin with). They have been nothing but patient, kind, and accommodating, and have anticipated our every need. The highlights: 1) The insanely resourceful concierge planned an excellent itinerary for our sightseeing tours before our arrival. (Which was EVERYTHING). 2) Upon our arrival, the woman at the front desk insisted upon finding adjoining rooms for us after the first night, as we had requested them and they were not available. (Please note 3b for why this was wise, after all) 3) This is Paris, no obligation to smile, but ALL of the hotel staff have been nothing but accommodating, pleasant with a "hello" for us at all times. 3b) This includes the EXTREMELY kind night staff member who had to politely knock on our door at 11 am because our two kids with ADHD were in the middle of a noisy meltdown. (Complaint WAS warranted, in my mind). Thanks to the staff for saving our holiday! -RPB I usually prefer larger hotels, but this place is a MAJOR exception. The location is fabulous. Close to all of the right places. I feel undeservedly spoiled- an excellent stop if you are looking for an undiscovered, comfortable place to stay in Paris."
