That saffron-orange facade rising through a canopy of mature palms above the Gulf of Saint-Tropez has been a fixture of the Grimaud coastline since 1914, when architect Julien Flengenheimer completed Le Golf Hôtel as a Belle Époque palace for the Riviera's golden-season crowd. After sitting dormant since 2008, the building returned in April 2026 as COMO Le Beauvallon, restored across its 42 rooms by Paris-based interior designer Dorothée Delaye, whose work navigates carefully between the building's ornate structural inheritance and a palette of bleached linens, warm stone, and barely-there taupe that gives each room the calm of a well-edited private house. Floor-to-ceiling sliding glass panels in the upper suites dissolve the boundary between bedroom and a colonnaded terrace, with the Gulf stretched flat and blue beyond — a brass telescope on a tripod positioned, with quiet confidence, to make the most of it. Delaye's touch extends to the grounds, where a long reflecting pool mirrors a cream-rendered pergola structure at dusk, its colonnade stepping down toward a teak-decked waterfront restaurant shaded by a slatted timber pergola directly over the bay. The ten-acre hillside estate adds considerable spatial breathing room rarely available on this stretch of coast. Most unexpectedly, the restoration incorporates over three hundred curated art works, among them Toyo Ito's 2002 Serpentine Gallery Summer Pavilion, which brings a genuine moment of architectural weight to what could easily have settled for atmospheric good looks alone.
