PB hotel design editorial

Tucked into the pine-scented residential quarter of Baie des Canebiers rather than the circus of Saint-Tropez's port, Hotel Lou Pinet was always going to succeed or fail on atmosphere rather than address. The property, a cluster of honey-rendered Provençal bastides with blue-grey shutters and Roman-tiled roofs arranged around a central lawn and pool, manages the rare trick of feeling genuinely like someone's very fortunate house. The interiors, refreshed in recent years with a palette that draws from the surrounding maquis — terracotta floor tiles, cream linen curtains pooling softly at French doors, woven rattan pendant lights hanging above beds with boldly patterned upholstered headboards in ochre and slate — keep the tone domestic without tipping into self-conscious rusticity. The restaurant terrace, shaded beneath a steel-framed reed canopy with woven pendant lanterns overhead, gives onto the garden through a rhythm of olive trees and stone paving that pulls the landscape inward. Inside, the dining room announces itself more boldly: a long yellow velvet banquette curves beneath a mural of vivid hand-painted ceramic tiles depicting Provençal village scenes, the walls finished in sage green and the ceiling lined with split-bamboo cane. Rattan bistro chairs and black iron table bases ground the space in a southern French vernacular, while the red and orange accent cushions tip their hat to a broader Mediterranean sensibility that runs through the whole property.

About

Bewitched by the place to this day, the Pariente family took over the Hotel Lou Pinet in 2017, completely transforming it with the ultimate dream team. Charles Zana and Francois Vieillecroze for the architecture, landscaper Jean Mus for the gardens and BeefBar's Riccardo Giraudi for the restaurant. In love with the south in general and the French Riviera in particular, the team members have joined forces to reinvent the Hotel Lou Pinet as they would a private home where friends gather for a different take on Saint-Tropez. The real one.

"A wonderful boutique hotel located five minutes from downtown Central pay. Easily accessible with the hotel shuttle, which was always available. Our room was very comfortable. The amenities were great. Service from the concierge to the restaurant staff housekeeping were also excellent. We enjoyed chatting with the general manager provided lots of useful information and who made us feel very welcome. I used the available E bikes for two bike rides. Cycling is a good way to get around because the roads are very busy."

"This was our second stay at Lou Pinet, and we had an amazing experience. The rooms are spectacular with the most comfortable beds, the hotel is quiet but still very close to town with a super helpful team happy to shuttle you in and back, the pool is beautiful and very relaxing to spend the day as an alternative to the many nearby beach clubs. The Beef Bar restaurant runs like clockwork. Breakfast buffet is super well curated and everything is delicious. What makes it special is the team - reception, manager, concierge, waiting staff: all are super friendly, professional, and go the extra distance to make your stay special. Special thank you to Marine and Jeremy (concierge desk) arranging our itinerary at restaurants and beach clubs, Elisa and Matthieu (front desk). Will definitely be back !"

"We spent a week at Lou Pinet and it was nothing short of perfection. The property embodies understated luxury—elegant, serene, and intimate—yet delivers every amenity and service you could hope for in Saint-Tropez. The concierge team was exceptional, curating our entire experience around town with flawless recommendations and reservations. The hotel’s buggy service made exploring effortless, allowing us to enjoy Saint-Tropez without the usual hassle of logistics. Dining at Beefbar was a highlight—sophisticated, vibrant, and absolutely delicious. Whether lounging by the stunning pool, enjoying the beautifully landscaped grounds, or working out in the gym, every detail was designed for comfort and style. Lou Pinet perfectly blends relaxed Riviera charm with world-class hospitality. It is the kind of place you never want to leave, and we are already dreaming of our return."

"Such a treat … tugged away from the hustle and bustle that is St Tropez but still walking distance to beach and easy to get into town. The rooms are super spacious and cozy and breakfast is catering to spoilt clients including a top matcha and berry bowls."

"Hotel Lou Pinet is a true gem in St. Tropez — effortlessly chic with stunning boutique design throughout the property. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with champagne and water, and were pleasantly surprised that our room was ready by 10:30 AM (a dream after traveling from Nice). Our room was a highlight of the stay — spacious, calming, and full of thoughtful details. We especially loved the walk-in closet, which was perfect for us as a mother-daughter duo traveling with plenty of outfits. Waiting for us inside was a handwritten welcome note, a chilled bottle of rosé, and two personalized toiletry bags embroidered with our initials — such a beautiful and personal touch. The Diptyque bath products were a lovely bonus and added to the overall feeling of quiet luxury. The pool area was absolutely gorgeous — elegant, tranquil, and surprisingly empty during our stay. One of the advantages of visiting just as the season starts is getting to enjoy spaces like this in near solitude. Breakfast each morning was equally impressive. The spread was fresh and delicious, and I had the best iced vanilla latte of the entire trip here. Everything was beautifully presented and made for a perfect start to each day. The only downside to our experience was the concierge service. While we could easily arrange a shuttle into town, there were several times we were told we’d be picked up at a certain time and ended up waiting or needing to call an Uber instead. It felt a bit disorganized compared to the otherwise flawless attention to detail across the hotel. Despite that one hiccup, we absolutely adored our stay at Lou Pinet and are already dreaming of returning. It’s a quiet, stylish escape with so much charm and intention behind every detail."
