Spread across a private motu in French Polynesia's most mythologized lagoon, with the volcanic silhouette of Mount Otemanu rising directly across the water, the Four Seasons Bora Bora works with a geography so theatrical it could easily overwhelm any architectural ambition. Instead, the resort — which opened in 2008 across 107 bungalows and villas arranged along boardwalks extending over the lagoon and through dense coconut groves — subordinates itself to that landscape with considerable discipline. Thatched pandanus roofs pitched at steep traditional Polynesian angles keep the structures low against the treeline, their forms drawn from fare architecture rather than imposed upon it. Inside, the palette is warm and unassuming: horizontal-planked tamanu timber walls, rich merbau hardwood floors, and woven pandanus ceiling panels that filter light and soften sound in equal measure. The furniture is calibrated to the same register — rattan armchairs with ikat-print cushions, freestanding soaking tubs positioned to face garden plantings of heliconia and ginger, carved stone headboard panels echoing traditional Polynesian tapa motifs. The pool bar pavilions photographed here, with their deep-thatch canopies and honey-toned timber bar stools set directly on white sand, carry the same easy consistency between indoor and outdoor registers that makes the property feel genuinely rooted in place rather than assembled from a generic tropical vocabulary.

"This place is what happens when service, views, food, and vibes all decide to overachieve at the same time. Our overwater bungalow was bigger than our first apartment (honestly could’ve hosted a small dinner party in there 😅). And instead of neighbors, we had eagle rays, sting rays, and fish casually swimming by like we were in a nature documentary. The views of Mount Otemanu at sunset? So beautiful it actually looks fake. Like… someone check if this is a screensaver. Food = incredible. Service = next level. Every single person made us feel like VIPs, but special shoutout to Amelia at the front desk and our server at Vaimiti (3/24/26!) who remembered us by name the next day by the pool… how?! 🥹 Somehow luxurious and warm and welcoming at the same time."

"Good part -We stayed for six nights at the mountain view room with plunge pool and the resort is beautiful and staff is amazing. The restaurant onsite is great, the kids club is amazing for our 10 year old and villa had the best view. I will now get to the worst part and skip the bad part. The resort allows jet skies to run in between the water villas and let me tell you it is the most annoying and disturbing thing on the property. They are constantly running very close to the line control of the villas and the noise of these jet skis completely ruins your peace with such view. You cannot relax at all in from of your water villa or lounge around nor there is any privacy as these guys are very close to the villa and constantly going up and down. Not to mention the impacts it has on the natural habitat. We didn't travel for over 16 hours to hear a constant jet ski buzzing going back and forth. To add to that one of the jet ski contractors to make his point drove inside the line of control where they are not allowed to go at high speed. It is worthless getting a water villa with a plunge pool with best views if your peace is constantly disturbed by jet skis going up and down your villa. if we needed so much noise and distraction, we could go to a party city like Cancun and not come all the way to Bora Bora. Advice to Four Seasons - You are considered one of the most beautiful resorts in the world in the most beautiful natural habitat for wild life, fish and greenery. Please do not drive this disturbance with jet ski contractors running up ad down close to the villas and not having any piece or tranquility at all! If Jet ski is what people come to Bora Bora for then they can do it on the island which is a short 10 min boat ride. This really ruined our entire experience with the non stop commotion from these jet skis, no privacy , peace and tranquility!"

"Unbelievable honeymoon at the best resort we've been to. The service was top tier from check-in (thank you Amelie) to housekeeping to the awesome bar and beach staff. The restaurants always had great food and impeccable staff. The most personable and friendly staff we've ever experienced."

"This is our second time visiting Bora Bora and staying in this Four Seasons Resort. The last time was in 2019, right before COVID. We still remember several staff members. During COVID time we thought about them sometimes, worrying if they would be okay. But we didn’t see them again this time, and the same department they used to work in told us they no longer work here since reopening. The top resorts in Bora Bora are Four Seasons and St. Regis. We stayed at both this time, and I could say at least in poolside/beach service and breakfast, Four Seasons is better than St. Regis. There were three beach attendants and three or four pool attendants working at the beach and around the pool area. They not only bring towels and make the chair for you, but also take drinks and food orders. They will bring a jug of ice water and cups for you as soon as you lie down. I only spent a couple of hours at St. Regis pool and half a day on the beach. They had only two attendants at each area and both towels and drinks I needed to ask for. Breakfast at Four Seasons has more variety both for the buffet and made-to-order. Especially the choice of fruits, Four Seasons is quite generous than St. Regis. The French Toast with freshly made Coconut Cream is a must-try. It says online Four Seasons opened in 2008 and St. Regis opened in 2006. I would say both of them need quite a bit remodeling. Some furnitures might be changed since our last stay, but feels like more need to do. The overall service of Four Seasons still follow their standard, except the gentleman in the concierge building behind the concierge table. He was the only one person treated me like air ever since I went inside and looking for some cups for water dispenser outside. Good thing a young girl looks like intern there helped me. Bora Bora is one of a kind special place in this world. We sure will visit it again although we live in east coast and 5+8 hour flight was quite exhausting. I am sure we will stay at Four Seasons again in our next trip."

"This was our fourth time staying at Four Seasons, and it continues to exceed our expectations every single visit. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome—everyone is warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. It’s that level of warmth that keeps bringing us back... home :) The resort grounds are simply breathtaking. The beauty is almost surreal—it looks so perfect it feels like it could be fake. Every corner of the property is meticulously maintained and stunning. We stayed in an overwater hale for 10 days, and it was an unforgettable experience. Waking up to the ocean each day and stepping right into the water never gets old. This is truly a special place for our family, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit."
