PB hotel design editorial

Strung across the coral shallows of Motu Tevairoa on a necklace of timber boardwalks, the overwater bungalows of Le Bora Bora by Pearl Resorts are arranged so that every structure faces Mount Otemanu across the lagoon — a placement that feels less like site planning and more like choreography. Pierre-Jean Picart's 1997 design for the resort drew on authentic Polynesian building traditions, using woven pandanus thatch, dark hardwood frames, bamboo cladding, and locally quarried stone to produce structures that carry genuine material warmth. Extended in 1999 and again in 2003, the property grew to 108 rooms and villas without losing the low-rise dispersal that keeps it in scale with the landscape. Inside the bungalows, steeply pitched thatched ceilings rise over wide-plank timber floors, with Marquesan-carved wood panels framing doorways and headboards in patterns drawn from traditional Polynesian iconography. The palette stays close to the materials themselves: cream linen upholstery, natural weave rugs, terracotta cushions, teak side tables — nothing competes with the turquoise view through the full-width glazed wall. The main restaurant works within a circular thatched pavilion, where dried pandanus-leaf pendants hang from exposed structural rafters above woven-back rattan chairs and white-clothed tables. At the pool, a sculptural shade canopy built from layered driftwood-grey timber slats gives the terrace its one explicitly contemporary gesture, a small but precise counterpoint to all that deeply rooted craft.

"A Dream Honeymoon in Paradise! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We stayed at Le Bora Bora by Pearl Resorts for our honeymoon, and it was truly a dream come true. From the moment we arrived, the scenery looked like something straight out of a postcard. The crystal-clear turquoise water, beautiful views, and tropical surroundings were absolutely breathtaking. It honestly felt surreal! Our overwater bungalow was perfect—romantic, beautiful, and exactly what we imagined for our honeymoon. Waking up over the water every morning was unforgettable. The service was wonderful, and the resort had everything we needed to relax and enjoy paradise. The entire experience was incredibly special, and we made memories that we will cherish forever. If you are considering Bora Bora for your honeymoon, anniversary, or a romantic getaway, Le Bora Bora by Pearl Resorts is a must! Bora Bora truly is paradise. 10/10—we would absolutely return! 🌺🌊❤️"

"We arrived in The Pearl in Bora Bora at lunchtime and had locally caught lobster for lunch, we stayed in a villa with our own private garden and pool. The Hotel has a huge ornamental exotic garden, everything about it was beyond expectations. The concierge service helped us to book activities and change pre booked tours, they supported us with each trip and ensured everything went exactly to plan. The most beautiful place to stay and a holiday of a lifetime."
