PB hotel design editorial

Carved from a Soviet-era textile factory in Tbilisi's Mtatsminda district, Rooms Hotel Tbilisi arrived in 2014 as the property that signaled Georgia's capital had moved decisively into the international design conversation. The building's industrial skeleton — exposed brick, reclaimed timber ceiling beams, steel-framed glazing running the full height of the courtyard — was kept deliberately raw, while the interiors layer an entirely different sensibility on top: eclectic, warm, slightly theatrical, with enough accumulated character to feel more like a collector's house than a hotel. The 40-room property was developed by Adjara Group, whose in-house creative direction established a visual language that has since spread across their wider portfolio. The guest rooms deploy botanical damask wallpaper in deep rust and copper tones against dark-stained oak floors, iron candelabra chandeliers, roll-top cast-iron baths positioned openly beside leather upholstered beds, and mustard waffle throws that reappear as a deliberate signature across the property. The restaurant moves through a different register — forest-green panelled walls, a tufted leather banquette running the length of the room, Saarinen-adjacent chairs at round marble-topped tables, globe pendant lights on brass fittings — before opening into a glazed conservatory where hand-painted encaustic floor tiles shift the mood entirely. The library, its shelves floor-to-ceiling against terracotta-painted walls, a red leather sofa planted on those same patterned tiles, a birdcage suspended in the courtyard beyond the glass — this is a hotel that argues, convincingly, that eclecticism handled with conviction is its own form of discipline.

About

Set in the heart of Tbilisi's neighborhood, Vera, Rooms Hotel Tbilisi's doors are open to anyone willing to get an invaluable experience. It is so much more than a 125 guest room hotel. It is a destination of its own. Architects of this project have successfully transformed this former industrial building of an old publishing house into a contemporary 8-story hotel. The essence and history of the building is retained, capturing the raw post-industrial and offbeat bohemian vibe that has come to define this part of the capital city. Everything has a regal sophisticated feel blended with a touch of tasteful modernism. Rich with character it is designed for a flawless and comfortable stay. Everything here is delightfully unique and inspiring that oozes class and sexiness. Neighborhood offers laidback hangout. Authentic and local experience obtained at Rooms Hotel Tbilisi cannot be recreated any place else. Surely, there is a certain distinct New York sensibility to the Hotel. Here you will encounter a contrasting crew of corporate types, artists, musicians and other creative people who congregate to eat, drink and socialize.

"I stayed at Rooms Hotel for a full month this past summer. The property itself is stunning — beautifully designed with real character. And I want to give genuine credit to the vast majority of the staff. The front desk team, restaurant staff, housekeeping, and security were consistently warm, professional, and attentive. Several of them went out of their way to make me feel welcome, and that kind of hospitality doesn't go unnoticed. Unfortunately, one front desk employee was repeatedly disrespectful toward me throughout my stay — on multiple occasions and in front of other staff members. This was unlike anything I've experienced in over 25 years of international solo travel. It's a real shame, because one person's behavior overshadowed what was otherwise an excellent stay. The rest of the team deserves better than to have their hard work undermined by a colleague who lacks basic professionalism. Rooms Hotel has so much going for it. But this experience is a reminder that it only takes one bad apple to define a guest's lasting impression."

"The hotel itself is truly beautiful. The rooms are very nice, and the overall decoration and design of the property are impressive. However, our experience with the staff was unfortunately disappointing. Not everyone, but most of our interactions felt unpleasant & tense. which is not what you expect when you’re on vacation. Before our arrival, I emailed the hotel to inform them that we would be arriving late and to request the necessary information, but unfortunately I never received a response. I understand this is not a boutique hotel, but guests still come here to relax and enjoy their time. A negative attitude, even subtle, can really affect the overall holiday experience. It’s a lovely hotel visually, but based on our experience, I wouldn’t choose to stay here again. İt’s sad bc the place itself has great potential."

"This was my second stay at the hotel. The location is wonderful because it is very close to a main street and various shops and restaurants, but it is off the main street, so has a level of calm and quiet. The rooms are beautifully designed with great attention to detail. We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant, but ordered room service, which was delicious. I would highly recommend it."

"While I was in Georgia, I decided to spend one day at Hotel rooms because of the good reviews, and I’m happy I did. The rooms were comfortable and well-kept. I really liked my stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to others."
