PB hotel design editorial

A nineteenth-century Gutshaus — a Prussian manor of the kind that once anchored the agricultural estates stretching along the Baltic's Holsteinische Schweiz coastline — provides the architectural spine of Weissenhaus Private Nature Luxury Resort, its white stucco facade and steep Mansard roof rising from parkland that slopes toward the shore at Wangels. The property, which opened in 2015 after an extensive restoration, preserves the manor's original neoclassical symmetry: arched windows in two disciplined rows, an entrance terrace with balustrade and wrought-iron stair rail, dormer windows breaking the dark slate roof in a rhythm that speaks more of landed estate than of hotel. The interiors hold that same tension between aristocratic precedent and contemporary comfort with considerable skill. Guest rooms in the manor deploy wide-plank oak floors and panelled wall surrounds painted in warm whites, dressed with herringbone-weave sisal rugs edged in navy, grey wing chairs upholstered in tweed, and curtains in a two-tone linen and cobalt combination that anchors the Baltic colour palette without literalising it. The resort's beach pavilion takes an entirely different register — reclaimed timber ceiling boards, exposed steel ductwork, deep leather Chesterfield sofas, and sheer curtains diffusing North Sea light into something amber and still. Rows of traditional Strandkörbe on the private beach complete the picture: a property that has absorbed its landscape rather than performed it.

"We had a great time at the facility. Amazing location. Extremely friendly staff and great food. We will come again soon"

"Stunning parkland setting on the Baltic coast. Sublime breakfasts. Beautiful spa. Asked for somewhere to do yoga and was shown to a fabulous loft. Suppers in the Boathouse were very special. Some annoying quirks e.g impossible to buy coffee/cold drinks until after 1pm, charged for having our bags collected from our room on departure, erratic housekeeping - but such a special place it’s easy to ignore trivial niggles"

"We had a wonderful three-day stay at WEISSENHAUS Private Nature Luxury Resort. It is one of the most beautiful and impeccably maintained resorts we have ever visited. By intentionally limiting the number of guests, the resort creates an exclusive and tranquil atmosphere, making every area feel spacious and luxurious. The grounds are stunning, and the staff are exceptionally professional, attentive, and well trained. We stayed in two different rooms during our visit. Both were beautifully appointed, immaculately clean, and of the highest standard. The beach was somewhat disappointing, although that is, of course, beyond the resort’s control. On the other hand, the surrounding area offers excellent opportunities for running, walking, and cycling, with several scenic routes starting directly from the resort. Breakfast was a highlight. The staff were genuinely warm, welcoming, and highly attentive, providing excellent service without ever being intrusive. We also dined at both restaurants and thoroughly enjoyed each experience. The food was of a very high standard, complemented by attentive and professional service. What truly sets WEISSENHAUS apart is its attention to detail. From the beautifully maintained surroundings to the quality of the complimentary bottled water, every element reflects a genuine commitment to excellence. Well trained staff every where at the resort. Four Seasons level. We would not hesitate to return and highly recommend this exceptional resort."
