PB hotel design editorial

At the southern end of Gendarmenmarkt, one of Berlin's most formally composed public spaces, a stucco-fronted Wilhelmine-era building with a patinated copper mansard roof and five ordered storeys of tall windows carries the Titanic Gendarmenmarkt Berlin — a property whose address alone sets a near-impossible standard for urban setting among the city's hotels. The facade, warmly uplift in the images, belongs to the classical streetscape of Friedrichstadt with obvious conviction: rusticated base, rhythmic fenestration, wrought-iron balcony rails at the piano nobile. The hotel operates 179 rooms across the building's full depth, its Turkish-owned Titanic Hotels group having committed to a level of finish that takes the Wilhelmine exterior as its reference point rather than its constraint. Inside, the interiors move between two registers. Guestrooms pair upholstered wing-curved headboards in ivory bouclé with burnt-orange accent cushions and mirrored wardrobe panels reflecting lacquered red-trimmed desk furniture — a palette that keeps one foot in the warm classicism of the building while the other steps toward a sharper, more contemporary Berlin sensibility. The steakhouse restaurant below works a different mood entirely: a coffered ceiling in lacquered auburn timber squares, cobalt glassware on dark walnut tables, and longhorn skulls mounted against charcoal walls. Most surprising is the hammam, its domed ceiling pierced by star-shaped apertures that throw shifting light across travertine-clad walls and an octagonal central platform — an Ottoman spatial idea transplanted, with complete seriousness, to the heart of Prussian Berlin.

"We had a fantastic stay at the Titanic hotel . We loved everything about it ! What a beautiful place from the moment you walk in . I loved the pianist who played the most beautiful music . The hotel was in a great location and close to the centre . It has the most ornate dining room with wonderful service especially from Joeline Spiewok who looked after at a breakfast and served us delicious coffees . All of our party agreed that we would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel."

"We stayed at this hotel in May for our first trip to Berlin. The location is great; the hotel is within walking distance of many tourist sites like Museum Island, Brandenburg Gate, and Checkpoint Charlie. The nearest U-Bahn Station (Stadtmitte) is less than a handful of blocks away, which makes commuting to and from the airport easier as well. Our room was clean, nicely decorated, and enough space for 2 people to be comfortable. We were in a room across from the elevator so we were worried we would hear a lot of foot traffic and elevator bells; however, the room was quiet and we hardly heard any outside noise. It seems the hotel is popular with business travelers so we did not see a lot of tourists. The concierge had free maps of the city, which were very helpful."

"Came to visit Berlin for a long weekend with another couple and we stayed at the Titanic hotel. Location is fab (easy 15 min walk to the Brandenberg Gate and 15mins the other way to Alexander Platz). The hotel itself is beautiful and staff friendly. The bar (and its staff) are great and likewise the staff in the restaurant at breakfast. I would thoroughly recommend staying here if you visit Berlin and want a quality base to explore from."

Staff are extremely friendly and the breakfast selection was excellent! Additionally, the room was clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again!!"
