"Nothing special. We (2 adults) booked for two nights. Our plane had mechanical problems so our arrival at the hotel was delayed one night. We arrived about noon, and since we had already paid for the previous night, we were checked in immediately. The hotel is on a quiet side street. The entrance is up some stairs, through a door, and up more stairs. Reception is down a corridor. (At the door there was a sign to ring for help with bags.) The hotel was a warren of corridors and doors. No ac in the corridors. Our room was in the rafters and was tiny! A queen size bed dwarfed the room. There was no where to open suitcases except on the bed or in front of the door, making it uncomfortable for one person, nevermind the two of us! Thankfully the room had air conditioning as it was 95° outside, but once in the corridor we were blasted with hot air. Poor housekeeping: We had to ask for towels! Our room had obviously not been serviced as there were no towels in the bathroom. Ok. Then once in the shower, I discovered that the large bottles of shampoo, conditioner and soap (attached to the wall) were empty! Unbelievable! I hadn't bothered to dig out my toiletries (see above about the hardship of opening a suitcase) as I'd assumed I could use the hotel products. Nope. We ended up checking out early, about 4pm, after arriving at noon. We left for our next destination, not wanting to stay any longer in the Lume. When we checked in, the receptionist was pleasant. When checking out, there was a different woman, and she was really rude. It made the entire place even more distasteful. Two stars because of the friendly initial receptionist, and it was clean. I'm not upset about paying for the hotel (airline put us up the first night as it was a mechanical problem, and we moved on to our next destination for the second night) but for the price we paid to be shoved into an unserviced closet was unacceptable. I didn't ask to speak to a manager or complain about the lack of housekeeping. It was the start of our trip and I didn't want it anymore sucky. After the rudeness of the second desk clerk, I probably should have, but we had to catch a train..."

"First I want to say this is a nice hotel and I enjoyed my stay. The staff was generally friendly and attentive. This hotel is within historical buildings, it has a lot of stairs for elevation changes. It also has some spaces such as the gym in odd sub basement hallways. The entrance is a flight of stairs though you can get help with your bags from the front desk, this is not ideal. The hotel seemed generally clean, except for mold and mildew in our shower that also flooded the bathroom floor every time we showered unless we got extra towels to collect it right at the door. The breakfast was nice and had a variety out and items you could order from the menu."

"Good location. Although you do need to be selective about which street you walk up to train station. Kaiserstrasse is filled with restaurants and regular foot traffic. Taunusstrasse in the morning, had groups of homeless people. I saw two seperate people actively using drugs in my short walk. However, in large metro cities-you’re never far from illicit activity. Hotel staff is exceptional and well appointed lobby and rooms with adjacent restaurant and bar. Room for improvement: gym, which has no air con and minimal equipment. It’s a small space in the basement that desperately needs a fan. And last feedback is the towels have an odd odor. They appear clean but smell as if they’re not-almost musty?! Will likely stay here again. Although there’s no shortage of Marriott properties to select from in Frankfurt!"
