PB hotel design editorial

Pressed against the glass tower wall of Frankfurt's Bahnhofsviertel, a Jugendstil townhouse from the early twentieth century holds its ground with considerable architectural confidence — rusticated sandstone base, sinuous carved ornament cascading across the upper facade, a mansard roofline punctuated by arched dormers that catch the amber uplighting at dusk. The contrast is the whole point. LUME Boutique Hotel, part of Marriott's Autograph Collection, was established within this listed building as a deliberate counterargument to the district's corporate glass-and-steel register, preserving the original structure while threading entirely contemporary interiors through its historic rooms. The guest rooms carry herringbone parquet floors and dark-stained four-poster beds with sapphire velvet headboards, the palette built around navy, terracotta red, and warm brass — a combination that feels closer to a well-appointed private library than to standard hotel specification. Geometric patterned rugs in red and white anchor the beds, while slim open shelving units dressed with coloured glassware add a residential looseness to the layout. The lobby shifts the register toward amber and ochre, tufted yellow velvet sofas grouped around red armchairs beneath a cluster of globe pendants. The greatest tonal leap comes in the bar, where fluted oak millwork and sage green upholstery give way abruptly to a neon-lit backbar and emerald glass panels — the building's Wilhelmine bones dressed, against all expectation, in something approaching downtown exuberance.

"This was a perfect hotel for our business trip to Frankfurt. I'll start with the staff. Sawan and Magdalena at the front desk were terrific. Whether it was solving an issue with a cumbersome reservation or bringing a cup of coffee while we were working in the lobby (good setup), they were friendly and on top of their game. The location was perfect - easily walkable to our meetings, dinner, and a riverside run. The rooms were very nice with the amenities you need to work - outlets, a desk and good wifi. The breakfast was great... and the bar has a surprisingly good selection of Japanese whiskey. I will definitely stay here again on the next trip to Frankfurt."

"This was my first stay at this hotel, and overall it was a pleasant experience. The hotel is very close to the station, in a cleaner and quieter area, and the cleanliness was very good. The room had everything I needed, and I also received an upgrade upon arrival, which was a nice bonus. I also ordered room service, and it was fine. Another plus is the relaxation/waiting area, which has many interesting books and magazines, and complimentary coffee and water are available there. I would also like to mention that Mr. Sawan took care of my issue and tried to resolve it as best as he could, which I really appreciated. Unfortunately, there was one downside: around 8:00 in the morning, the housekeeping staff started cleaning and made a lot of noise. I contacted the reception, and they tried to help, but my sleep had already been disturbed. I was told that they had many guests and were trying to finish cleaning more quickly, but I explained that this is not acceptable, especially for people who come to rest, for those who work at night, or for guests who want to sleep longer. The reception tried to make up for it in several ways, including offering me breakfast for free, which I appreciated, even though I was too tired to go to breakfast,so i skip it. Overall, the hotel is beautiful and clean, but I would really appreciate improvement when it comes to morning noise."

"Well located hotel that is an easy walk from the main train station and within walking distance to sights and great restaurants. The hotel and my room were stylish and well decorated. The bed was super comfortable, the bathroom was a great size, and the rain shower was excellent. The layout of the hotel/reception is a bit strange. You have to go up one floor of stairs to reach reception and there is no elevator or staff to help with luggage. My room was on the ground floor (below reception), and I had horrible views of service areas and people delivering supplies. Rooms are not sound proof and I could hear people talking, closing doors, and furniture moving in the reception area above."
