PB hotel design editorial

Thirty shell-shaped cabanas rising from an olive-threaded garden on the Athenian Riviera signal that 91 Athens Riviera, The Resort is doing something architecturally distinct from any other property on this coastline. Designed in 2024 by Konstantinos Chadios of Chadios Architects, the project — developed by Grivalia Hospitality and operated under the Domes collection — treats glamping not as a compromise but as a formal proposition. Each Luxent is a doubled-shell dome in pale sand-coloured skin, clustered in groups along a still reflective pool edged with ornamental grasses, mature olive trees, and date palms. The earthen-brick volumes connecting the domes to shared spaces keep the massing low and warm, the whole composition reading as something between a Bedouin encampment and a contemporary Mediterranean garden estate. Inside, the domes open into surprisingly generous double-height spaces, the curved white ceiling tracing a pointed arch that gives each room the mood of a whitewashed cave. Circular woven rugs, four-poster beds in pale timber, and low-slung burgundy bouclé armchairs — chunky, sculptural pieces in a post-Memphis idiom — furnish the interiors with enough visual weight to hold the space without cluttering it. A porthole window cut through the shell on one side pulls in garden light and frames a disc of landscape like a painting. The outdoor dining terrace, shaded by a slatted pergola draped with amber canvas, steps into the same earth-and-amber palette, teak chairs and linen cushions arranged beneath a latticed canopy that filters Aegean light into long afternoon shadows.

"We had an absolutely wonderful stay at 91 Athens Riviera. The resort is truly outstanding, beautifully designed, and the Domes concept was very cool to stay in. A special thank you to Maria at the front desk, whose professionalism, and willingness to assist with every request made a real difference throughout our stay. She went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect for our family. Also the concierge team who moved us around with the buggies were very nice and helpful and made us feel very welcomed. The entire team was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with a smile. Thank you to everyone at 91 Athens Riviera for such a fantastic stay. We look forward to returning and creating more wonderful memories in the future. Highly recommended!"

"My daughter and I spent two nights in a two bedroom yurt. The resort is gorgeous and the yurts are very comfortable especially the mattress. The staff were all friendly. There are many beach beds to choose from. The food was excellent. Only two negatives that would not keep me from visiting. First, pool service was non-existent. Asked for drink menu and no one returned for our order so we went into the restaurant to order drinks. Secondly, unfortunately it’s out of the resorts hands, but the club next door played loud music until 4am. They do give ear plugs and the manager mentioned at check out they have sound machines if you ask for them so I would next time. The property is beautiful and an easy walk to safe area for shopping."

"Stunning gardens , and the food at the restaurant was very good (clubhouse). However pool service and beach service very slow - and thus this place fell short of high expectations. I don’t understand how on a very quiet day, getting service on the beach or beside the pool is so difficult? I had been looking forward to going for a long time but it certainly did not stand out as anything particularly special. My sunbed had stale/old bird — on it … why not ensure the beds are cleaned at the start of the day? I came here with several members too and they too seem unimpressed."

"High end resort. Every whim catered for. Was quiet when we visited. Sometimes had beach and pools to ourselves. Service is overwhelmingly helpful. Felt slightly overbearing at first but soon settled into it! On site restaurants excellent but pricey. If you fancy a change try Pasiphae which is 15 mins walk."

"This is a super cool eco glamping resort. It was fun for us to stay there for a night en route back to the US from Santorini. The room was beautiful and the grounds are just lovely. The staff was so helpful and welcoming. We loved out brief time there."
