PB hotel design editorial

At the foot of the Acropolis, where Plaka's neoclassical streetscape has survived largely intact since the nineteenth century, a carefully restored Athenian townhouse on Adrianou Street gives A77 Suites by Andronis its structural character — a sand-coloured stucco facade articulated with wrought-iron balconies, grey-painted window surrounds, and a base of veined marble that anchors the building to its street with quiet authority. Mannequins perched in the ground-floor windows signal that the building once served retail purposes, a commercial past that the Andronis group has transformed into one of Athens' more intimate boutique offerings, with a handful of suites spread across its upper floors. Inside, the interiors navigate between the building's plasterwork heritage and a contemporary sensibility that favours warm neutrals over drama. Rooms feature deep-buttoned upholstered headboards in taupe velvet, white-painted panel mouldings, herringbone oak floors, and Calacatta marble cladding at the bed wall, with circular brass pendant fixtures echoing the concentric plaster rosettes used as decorative wall reliefs in some suites. The courtyard below — irregular flagstone paving, built-in banquette seating in pale blue linen, climbing jasmine trained up rendered walls against exposed ancient stonework — carries the atmosphere of a private Athenian garden rather than a hotel amenity. From the roof terrace, the Parthenon sits directly in the sightline above terracotta rooftiles and olive trees, as close and unmediated as the city allows.

"A77 is a phenomenal little spot in the heart of Athens. One of the best places we’ve stayed over the years. The staff are amazing: very attentive, responsive, accommodating and friendly. You truly get personalized attention from the minute you walk in the door to the minute you leave. They even offered to walk with our next destination (taxis were on strike)! Geri, Maria and Konstantinos too great care of us, as did the rest of the hotel staff, who were all amazingly kind, courteous and helpful throughout our stay. They keep an immaculate hotel with comfortable beds with great amenities (snacks, drinks, breakfast delivered to the room, etc.) We would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone considering a boutique experience in a conveniently located hotel in the heart of Athens!"

"Absolutely outstanding service. We stayed in the roof suite with the outdoor deck and hot tub and it was heaven. Even in December with a daily average of 55 degrees you can be in a bathing suit in the sun. They adjusted the tub temperature perfectly to our liking. Daily amazing breakfasts, enough to feed you for a whole day, with fresh baked bread and Greek honey and yogurt and homemade jams. Every day a small surprise on the tray. Constant homemade snacks. Meticulous service and cleanliness. Incredibly responsive to requests. Located in the best possible area to walk everywhere. They booked our private drivers and private excursions, sometimes with little notice, and each trip was perfect with professional knowledgeable drivers, who took us to whatever experience we asked for, and stopped at local places along the way to try the food and coffee. Loved it all, but MUST do-s are the private olive oil tasting in Delphi (private lunch with the owners!), Oracle of Delphi (private tour), and sunset at the temple of Poseidon in Sounio. Everything else is in easy walking distance, and you’re surrounded by restaurants and shops. We stayed 10 wonderful days. Highly recommend."

"I would never stay at this or any A47 Hotel ever again. The room was not as promised, no view. And our booking was more than 2x the price of the actual room received. Fraud as far as I am concerned and taking advantage of tourists. They made no accommodation or offered any credit of value to me (they refused any credit only said here’s a minuscule credit to come back... Terrible experience with their customer service team. I would never return and would suggest you look elsewhere."

"We picked this hotel for the location and we weren't disappointed. It is a boutique hotel with Hilton affiliation but there are no amenities like a pool or bar that you would expect from a Hilton property other than breakfast to order delivered to your room daily, but you couldn't have asked for a better location. It is central to the markets and restaurants and walking distance to the Acropolis. All of the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and gave us suggestions of great restaurants and rooftop bars for sunsets. The rooms were very nice and extremely clean and were serviced anytime we went out even for an hour or two. We would definitely stay here again on our next trip."
