"So decided on this hotel instead of the Grand Bretagne because it is a block and half away from the GB and part of AMEX FHR program. PROS: good location EXCELLENT Japanese Restaurant (ROOFTOP) with great FOOD, Service and Vibe, also fantastic view of the Acropolis Bed is comfortable Really nice bathroom Super friendly and helpful staff CONS: You cannot throw TOILET PAPER in the toilet due to ancient pipes LOL - this is NOT a joke and for us, it was pretty gross having to throw your used TP in a bin Pillows are not good or comfortable Room is dark, like very dark unless you open the curtains fully which gives the construction next door a view into your room absolutely ZERO storage (TWO very small drawers in the entire room) and we had the biggest room. The next category up was a suite. For 1/2 the price of the GB, it was a good stay. Definitely eat at NYX, it is excellent"

"This has the makings of an excellent hotel but there are a few small things that happened which stopped me giving it 5 stars. For context, we had an executive room which we pay $800 per night for. Let’s start with the good: - The room was lovely. Clean, luxurious and comfortable. It had everything you needed. The bed made for a great nights sleep! - We had massages at the spa. The whole experience was amazing and the prices were very reasonable for a hotel. - The food at the hotel from the breakfast, to the lunch to the Japanese roof top restaurant was great. The roof top also had a great view. The issues we had: - I called reception to ask if they had any deodorant as I had forgotten it. They didn’t have any which is fine but I asked where could I get it from. The answer was it’s Sunday so no where. I had to push them 3/4 times before they told me actually there is a convenience store a few minutes away that is open. It just didn’t feel very helpful. - The chamber maid came to offer us a turn down service (she was very nice and professional). We said we didn’t need the turndown service but wouldn’t mind an extra couple of towels. She went away and came back a few minutes later saying sorry they didn’t have anymore towels. It’s quite honestly ridiculous that any hotel (especially one charging $800 per night) doesn’t have additional towels. - The food at the Japanese restaurant was excellent and the staff were very nice. However, it was extremely disorganised. You waited ages for simple things like water and orders came wrong to several people. To conclude, it could be a great hotel but a few small things let it down."

"Our recent stay at the Academias Hotel in Athens was exceptional and reminded me that truly outstanding hospitality still exists. Shortly after arriving, I realized I had left my cell phone in a taxi. What happened next genuinely amazed me. The bellhops and front desk staff immediately sprang into action with the urgency and coordination of an ER response team — making calls, working their systems, and leveraging the taxi association network to track down my phone. There was a palpable sense of teamwork and determination. I later learned they apparently have a streak of never losing a guest’s phone, and it was clear they took enormous pride in both helping guests and maintaining that standard of service. While we waited, the bartender — without being asked — thoughtfully brought water to us and other waiting guests, a small gesture that said a lot about the culture of hospitality at this property. One of the bellhops also took the time to explain a beautiful original artwork that had been painted onsite just the day before, offering what felt like an expert description and adding a personal, memorable touch to the experience. Thankfully, my phone was recovered, but what stayed with me most was the extraordinary level of care, professionalism, and pride shown by the entire team. In an era when personalized service can feel rare, the staff at Academias exceeded every expectation. I cannot recommend this property highly enough."

"Loved this hotel. Super nice people. The hotel AC was awesome - it kept the room super cool. First time in Europe I was actually cold in a room. Which is a good thing! Only small issue was in the middle of the night it resets to 20. And to heat up the room I had to open the window. The room was great. The breakfast was delicious. The staff were so attentive and friendly. We also had dinner twice on the rooftop. Great views of the Acropolis. And good sushi!"
