"As I couldn’t book the hotel for this trip due to occupancy, we wanted to stop by today to check it out for a future trip to Crete. The very nice guy at the gate told me that I need to pay 100 Euros per person in order to access the hotel grounds. Hence, we left without having a chance to see if Acro would be an option for next year."

"We stayed at this hotel for three days and had an overall pleasant experience. The first thing we noticed was how spotlessly clean the rooms were. The housekeeping staff did an excellent job every day, and the room also had a beautiful view, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The breakfast restaurant could definitely use some improvement. Angel was amazing—friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. Unfortunately, our experience with Eleni was quite different. She always seemed stressed, and when we asked her a question, she wasn’t able to answer it and didn’t make any effort to help us. That was disappointing and, unfortunately, affected our overall impression of the hotel. The breakfast food was average to good. Dinner, however, was fantastic. The food was delicious, and the service staff were excellent, attentive, and very friendly, even though I can’t remember their names. Finally, the reception team was outstanding. They were always kind, professional, and welcoming, making us feel comfortable throughout our stay. Overall, we had a very good stay. With a few improvements to the breakfast service, this hotel could offer an even better guest experience."

"We stayed for 2 nights and paid around €1900, booked into the Loft Suite, and unfortunately the experience didn’t match the price. The good: Room service was the only food we ate, and it was great. The vegetarian menu was limited, but staff happily arranged off-menu options for us. The bad: On our first night, a constant buzzing noise started in the room sometime in the middle of the night. My wife woke to it around 5 am and tried to figure out the source — we even turned off the AC thinking that was the cause, but the noise persisted. She had almost no sleep for the rest of the night. We reported it the next morning. By evening, staff said it was noise from some external machinery that couldn’t be fixed due to a technical issue, and offered to move us to the Cave Suite instead — a room that was actually €40-50 cheaper than what we’d booked, and smaller, with fewer amenities and less privacy. The receptionist convinced us to accept the switch by promising a warm pool (26°C), since our original pool had been on the colder side and we’d planned to enjoy it at sunset. Once we moved, we found the “warm” pool was actually much colder than our original one. Maintenance told us heating it properly would take at least 2-3 hours, so we missed sunset entirely and had no interest in a cold pool after dark. It felt like we’d been misled into accepting the room swap. As compensation, the hotel only comped our room service (~€150). We’d heard great things about this place and expected a lot more. Losing a night’s sleep on day one and having our plans for the second evening fall through because of a downgrade we were talked into made for a genuinely disappointing stay."

"Our 4th stay at Acro and it was better than ever. Some of the reviews I’ve read make me sad so here’s my review of this excellent place. This hotel is stunning, the design, the architecture and the service - all top notch. We stay in the Acroterra Villa so it’s above ground which we prefer and has stunning views with ample space. Words simply don’t do it justice. The location is a short walk down to the beach with a fab little mini market and gorgeous Vasillis Taverna which Giorgos kindly encouraged us to try - wow. Always difficult to fit extra food in when the wonderful ladies at breakfast make such delicious treats to try. This year breakfast was even better, the hosts… I adore you - such happy and friendly hosts it’s a joy to say hello every day to you and try your latest creation on the hot counter. Angela: your smile every morning is a joy.. We adore you. Thank you. The food changed this year under the new chef. Although I think when we went he was still finding his feet in May, the food was delicious, the menu improved in most ways but I did feel the vegetarian options should be on the main menu as if staying for an extended period the extra options (and lighter food) are welcome. Whilst we ate… we drank. Nikos…. What a star you are. Every day we allowed you to recommend a new local wine and you met the brief every day. We appreciate you (and Christoph when he pops by). We did the Greek night and Labis you are a joy. After missing you last year it was special to be at Acro on your return; a familiar face and special host. Definately one of our favourite nights at Acro with my current favourite chef of the year ;) David and Georgia. You made us feel like family. When my other half had a medical problem, you were kind, helpful and thoughtful. You helped and supported and it meant the world to us. Truly. David we will come and see you at Seaside when we next visit although hope to see you make an appearance at Acro! Georgia - no words. You are a special human indeed. Finally this year the biggest change was the improved bar atmosphere and Manos you are so special to us. We appreciate you and clearly enjoyed your creations a LOT haha. Have you restocked the limoncello? So many late nights and chats. We loved this aspect this year. One word on allergies - I arrived with a flare up of an allergy to my nemesis product I didn’t know was in Greek laundry detergent. Giorgos- you were so kind. So diligent and so understanding it meant the world to me as I was very worried when we arrived. You look after us and make us feel comfortable to ask or share any concerns. Truly exceptional standards always at Acro. The Acro team who I cannot mention everyone. They have become family. We visit every year for two weeks, Not for the architecture, not for the views, or the incredible tennis court, or the quiet (no children) - but because we feel welcome, we feel at home and we feel like there is nowhere better to be in the world when we are visiting. The downsides - mosquitos. I’d like to see some citronella candles at the bar at night maybe just to try to combat. But that’s nature and is what is is. As if I would forget Antonis and PAlex. The most hilarious team of wonderful people. Your company and your smiles are a simple joy. Palex much to my surprise you were also an excellent first aider when I sliced my fingers - thank you for helping me and making me feel less silly than I did. (We will try to be less trouble medically next time!!) We will miss the team until next time. Anyone reading this. Ignore the noise of negativity. If you love good quality food, accommodation, service and value local charm, cleanliness and ambiance. Acro is for you. But don’t just visit for one night (instagrammers we see you), it’s a place to reset, to restore and relax. Then it might just become your home from home too!"
