PB hotel design editorial

Curved white volumes stepping down toward a private stretch of Cretan coastline set the architectural tone for Domes Noruz Chania, an Autograph Collection property that translates the Cycladic visual language — smooth render, arched rooflines, massing that echoes the Aegean island vernacular — into a resort format along the more verdant northern shore of Crete near Chania. The aerial view reveals a freeform main pool whose organic outline softens the geometry of the surrounding terraces, teak-decked bungalow terraces stepping toward the sea at the lower levels, and a rooftop bar pool whose circular form sits flush against a glazed balustrade with the Cretan headlands dissolving into late-afternoon haze behind it. Inside, the interiors pursue a relaxed Mediterranean palette rather than anything labored: white plastered walls, light oak four-poster bed frames, woven rattan pendant lights, and Smeg minibars in matte black providing a knowing mid-century counterpoint. The sea-facing suites open through full-width sliding frames onto teak terraces equipped with soaking tubs and rope-woven lounge chairs, the Aegean filling the entire aperture from bed level. The restaurant leans on honeycomb-tile flooring in sage and cream, woven bucket chairs in tobacco and mint, and a textured woven ceiling that absorbs sound and diffuses the coastal glare, slender rendered columns carrying the eye straight through to the waterfront palms beyond.

Domes Noruz Chania, Autograph Collection Reviews

"A hotel that offers peaceful quiet enjoyment, even when the hotel is near full. Plenty of sun beds always available by the pools and on the beach. We chose a loft sea view room, that came with the half board haute living. If you only need a light lunch, the VIP lounge fulfils all your needs and is a cool place to avoid the midday sun. Our room had a lounge area in the loft along with access to the large balcony with hammock, loungers, table and chairs and a hot tub - along with great views of the sea. Our private plunge pool was at the room entrance downstairs, so not used so much. The bedroom area was reasonable, though the sink position in the room took up a lot of space. Half board was good, though the main restaurant, TOPOS, only change the selection of the day, so we only ate there twice. Though you can pick from the a la carte for an extra charge. We ate at RAW twice, first on our free meal included with our stay and secondly from their main menu. Both were excellent. All the staff were exceptionally friendly. Specific praise for Efi, the restaurant manager at RAW, who remembered our food choices from one visit to the next and was so friendly. Also, our housekeeper whose attention to detail even extended to seeing exactly what tea bag flavours and coffee pods we had used to ensure we were stocked up on our favourites."

"This hotel thoroughly deserves a five star review. Beautifully located right on the seafront, it’s a stylish, modern and attractive development. Everyone working there was incredibly attentive, courteous and helpful. It was probably the best customer service experience we’ve ever enjoyed in an up-market hotel. An abundance of choice for breakfast which included some delightful pastries and cakes. Evening meals were ample, tasty and attractively presented. The menu gives guests the chance to enjoy some Greek specialities. The library underneath reception was a quiet and comfortable place where guests can sample a wide range of snacks and complimentary soft and alcoholic drinks in the afternoon and early evening. Our room was well-equipped, with a large double bed that reminded us of home. There was no need to battle for sunbeds on the beach or by the pools as there were plenty to go round. During one day of poor weather, we visited the charming old town of Chania which was only a €20 taxi ride from the hotel. It’s definitely worth a visit even it means having to drag yourself away for a few hours from the luxury of this hotel. We would definitely come back here again if we choose to return to Crete for a holiday."

"Lovely architectural domed style Hotel, beautiful interior & outside areas so clean. 2 outside pools immaculate. From the moment we arrived, every member of staff so polite, professional & helpful. We stayed in a mezzanine loft style suite with outdoor terrace & jacuzzi bath, very clean & luxurious! Daily treats in room. The restaurant lovely design, buffet breakfast, vast selection healthy options. Dinner good selection on menu. Reception area stunning interior, welcome glass bubbly on arrival & gift on departure. I'm gluten free & every member of staff knew our names & that I was gluten free. A wonderful holiday, would certainly recommend this hotel. Lovely quiet beach location. Short taxi journey to Charnia, harbour, shops & restaurant. We had a fabulous weeks holiday & came home totally relaxed & feeling the benefit of our stay."

"Often said a soul of a place is made from its staff and there is consistency across all departments of friendly personable and sincere colleagues. The hotel is situated in a small bay approximately 10 minutes drive out of Chania old town. The hotel has a modern feel with accents of Greek charm. Its grounds rooms are spotless and maintained to a very high standard. Breakfast- amazing excellent choice.Fresh and tasty.Dinner is à la carte and while there is a good selection there are daily specials added. So nice to have waiter service and not buffets which is more common even across 5 star hotels these days. While I was told the hotel was 95/ occupied it never felt busy as plenty space across its 2 pools and many beds on the beach directly in front of the restaurant. On my third day while walking on the beach I got stung be a bee on my lower foot. Not a pleasant experience however the staff were amazing and went out of there way to ensure I was looked after m. Every day numerous members came up genuine in their approach to ask how I was . Thank you for the care and the cream which took effect. I never thought a bee sting on a foot could be so painful! I felt very relaxed and well looked after and would have no hesitation returning again very soon. Thank you."
