PB hotel design editorial

Ierapetra sits on the southeastern tip of Crete, the southernmost city in Europe, where the Libyan Sea runs flat and copper at dusk and the light carries a quality closer to North Africa than to the Aegean. That geographic particularity — arid, ancient, unhurried — gave the designers of Numo Ierapetra Beach Resort the clearest possible brief: make something that belongs here rather than somewhere else. The low-slung whitewashed massing, punctuated by dark-framed glazing and bounded by dry-stone perimeter walls in local schist, anchors the resort to the Cretan landscape rather than imposing a generic Mediterranean grammar on it. The pool terrace, visible from above, arranges its timber-roofed bar pavilion, arched lounge structures, and rows of dark sunloungers around a large rectangular pool that terminates at the sea wall — olive trees lining the boundary between resort and shore. Inside, the interiors sustain the same discipline. Guest rooms are finished in raw plaster walls, limewashed in warm sand tones, with oak-slatted room dividers, woven-rattan pendant lights, and textural linen bedding that keeps the palette within a very narrow range of earth and stone. The restaurant works with a pitched timber ceiling, darkened exposed beams, rope-wound dining chairs, and pendant lights woven from seagrass or macramé — materials that echo the fishing-village craft traditions of the eastern Cretan coast. Nothing announces itself loudly, which is precisely the point.

"A beautiful hotel with exceptional views and fantastic staff. We stayed for a week and had a wonderful relaxing time. Would definitely go back. Definitely worth the 1.5hr transfer from the airport."

"What a great hotel. If you want to have a relaxing holiday where you can lounge away beside the pool / beach, then I would highly recommend this place. Firstly the pros - I was greet by very friendly staff, with a welcome drink. I really set the tone and the mood of the stay. The food was sensational. I'm generally pretty underwhelmed by food at hotels, but this surpassed all expectations. The Greek food was authentic and very tasty. I also loved that the dinner menu changed each day, so you got a really nice variety during your stay. The pool / beach were excellent, and the sunbeds were quite comfortable. The staff were extremely attentive and friendly and made the stay very enjoyable. I also decided to get a massage when I arrived and the spa experience was a great way to get you in the relaxing mood. The cons are few but should be noted - Whilst I was told breakfast and dinner were included in the price of the stay, what they failed to mention was that drinks were not included, which I thought was a little cheeky. I can understand not including alcohol, but at the very least water and soft drinks should be included. The location is approx. 1.5 hours from the airport. The cost of transfers to and from the airport is pricey but if you're willing to overlook this then this is a great place to stay. Whilst most people on holidays don't spend much time in their hotel rooms, there was one day that was quite windy so I didn't really want to go outside as I had picked up a cold and didn't want to make it worse by sitting in the wind. Unfortunately the TV channels were extremely limited for anyone who was English speaking. Pretty much the only channels were news channels. It would have been great to have a couple of movie channels or movies on demand for those people who would like to watch a little TV before going to bed, or have a lazy day in the room. Overall, If you're looking for a relaxing, adults only, "all inclusive" resort then I would highly recommend Numo."

"A great resort for an escape, with a friendly team led by a general manager who genuinely cares. Very good food and pool area. Rooms fine. By the sea and within an easy drive of places to visit and hikes to do. A relaxing and much needed escape - thank you all."

"I am writing this review as I am in complete disbelief that a 5 star hotel has bedbugs. During my stay with my partner at the Hilton we noticed on our 3rd or 4th day that my partner had some bites. They werent itchy at first. And we only noticed them on his foot. We thought ok maybe he was bitten by an insect. However when we both went to sleep that night and woke up we both had a few new bites. I still wasnt sure what it was. I made sure to check everywhere I had bites to see where new bites appeared. On our last day we woke up on the morning. We both had several new bites. On our bodies. Which means we had been bitten during the night. All of our bites were in patterns also. A key indicator of bed bugs. And there was some light blood stains on the sheets. I contacted reception immediately and ask for manager to come to the room. Manager came with head of housekeeping who told me they were ‘trained’ in identifying bed bug bits and we had mosquito bites. I said there is not a chance on earth these are mosquito bites. They are bed bug bites you can see from the pattern. They assured us we didnt have bed bugs. They only inspected the mattressz They didnt inspect the bed or frame. or even carry out extra measures which id expect if theres a suspected outbreak! i took it upon myself to dismantle the bed intirely. as you can imagine this is a risk to my health!!! i found black debris on the bed, a tell tale sign of bed bugs and i found what appears to be a bed bug nest or the debris left from bed bugs on the corner of the bed frame. images attached!!!! they moved someone into our room when we checked out. if you checked into room 1204 on 4th july please get in touch with me and get out of that room. Now we are back home and I believe the bed bugs may have travelled back in our luggage. i will now have to call out professionals to fumigate my home. i may have to destory my luggage and my clothes. I am so upset beyond belief. TUI and Hilton compensation wont be enough !"
