PB hotel design editorial

Milos has always been an island of raw mineral drama — sulphur-yellow cliffs, obsidian coves, lunar rock formations shaped by millennia of volcanic activity. Eréma, a Member of Design Hotels, opens in 2026 on Cape Chalaka's southeastern shore, and Aristides Dallas Architects in collaboration with Micromega Architecture & Strategies have built a property that treats that geological identity not as backdrop but as structural logic. Monolithic volumes curve and stack in whitewashed render, softened at every corner, while walls of rough-cut volcanic stone run alongside them like exposed strata — the building presenting itself as something the island's geology might plausibly have produced. LEED Gold certification grounds what could have been a purely aesthetic argument in genuine environmental commitment. ID Laboratorium, the Athens-based studio responsible for the interiors, holds the same sensibility indoors. Across 41 suites — each with its own private pool and unobstructed Aegean views — the palette runs from warm bone and linen through to pale marble and woven rattan, the textures shifting between soft and mineral in a way that mirrors the landscape outside each window. Woven ceramic headboards, basketwork pendant lights, and low-slung upholstered benches furnish the rooms with a quiet material intelligence. On the dining terrace, a single olive tree set into a sculpted planter holds the centre of the space as the Cycladic mountains dissolve into the evening sea beyond.
