PB hotel design editorial

Carved into the granite-studded coastline of Paraga Beach, where Mykonos's southern shore breaks into a sequence of sheltered coves and exposed rock formations, Fouquet's Mykonos is scheduled to open in 2026 as one of the more architecturally specific resort propositions in the Aegean. Kydoniatis Architects led the project in collaboration with Divercity Architects, whose aerial logic is immediately legible from above: 61 suites and 3 private villas arranged in low, staggered volumes that follow the promontory's natural contours, their white-plastered masses stepping down toward the water in a geometry that owes more to Cycladic settlement patterns than to resort planning convention. The material palette is sandy plaster, rough local stone, and warm oak — surfaces that read as extensions of the landscape rather than impositions on it. Divercity Architects and Variation Studio handled the interiors, where the same restraint governs. Rooms are finished in tawny plaster and natural linen, with woven-grass headboards, teak-framed terrace chairs, and travertine pool decks facing directly onto Aegean blue. The restaurant's centerpiece is a mature olive tree planted within a circular banquette, its canopy rising into a sculpted plaster ceiling of overlapping discs — a room that manages warmth without theatricality. Two moves set the property apart structurally: an indoor swimming pool excavated into the cliff face, extraordinary for Mykonos, and a full-specification basketball court cut from living rock, both achievements that suggest a collaboration genuinely engaged with what the site would give and what it would demand.
