PB hotel design editorial

Cascading down the hillside above Platis Gialos in a sequence of whitewashed terraces that mirror the Cycladic vernacular of the village below, the Myconian Ambassador translates a deeply local architectural grammar into something considerably more precise. The property steps toward the Aegean in planes of rendered white concrete, each level claiming its own pool or sun terrace, the geometry softened only by the occasional stone pine and a gravel surface of white Mykonian pebble. That terracing, visible in the images as a stacked series of infinity-edged pools dropping toward the sea, gives the hotel its most distinctive formal quality — less a building encountered at once than a landscape unfolded in stages. The interiors apply the same restraint with slightly more warmth. Rooms are almost entirely white — polished plaster walls, white-lacquered furniture, Volakas marble in the open-plan bathrooms — with teal and indigo cushions in geometric patterns providing the only sustained note of colour, a reference to the Aegean itself rather than any decorative conceit. Freestanding soaking tubs sit behind full-height glass partitions that dissolve the boundary between bathroom and bedroom, while watercolour canvases in oceanic blues hang above the beds like framed views. The restaurant extends the language outward: raw island stonework against mirrored wall panels and white pergola beams, the Aegean coastline doubling in reflection as dusk turns the horizon electric blue.

"We had an amazing stay at this hotel. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, and they even upgraded us to the best possible room (with a private pool), which made the experience extra special. The views were beautiful, the amenities were excellent, and the food options were great too. We tried both breakfast and lunch and really enjoyed them. Overall, a wonderful stay and highly recommended."

"My stay at this property was extremely disappointing and did not reflect the standards of a hotel that markets itself as a five-star establishment. The customer service provided by the front desk staff was neither professional nor welcoming. In particular, an employee named Effy displayed a dismissive and discourteous attitude throughout our interactions. Guests should be treated with respect and hospitality, especially at a property claiming to offer a luxury experience. Additional staff training in customer service and guest relations is strongly recommended. I also experienced behavior that I found highly unprofessional. On several occasions, members of the staff would laugh and speak quietly among themselves as guests walked by, including myself. This created an uncomfortable atmosphere and gave the impression that guests were being discussed or mocked. After my stay, I read a Google review from another guest describing a very similar experience, which reinforced my concerns regarding the professionalism of the staff. In addition, the overall condition of the hotel falls well below what one would expect from a five-star property. I will be attaching photographs and videos that accurately demonstrate the condition of the facilities. The room assigned to me did not match the sea-view accommodation that was advertised and expected. Instead, I received a room with only a distant partial ocean view. Supporting photographs will be provided. American Express provided a $100 property credit as part of the reservation benefits; however, the hotel manager refused to honor or allow the use of this credit during our stay. The bathroom had a persistent sewer odor, which significantly affected our comfort. The guest rooms are small, lack adequate amenities, and are not equipped to the standard expected of a luxury hotel. The flooring is worn and becomes extremely slippery when wet, creating a potential safety hazard. Furthermore, the air conditioning system consists of a basic mini-split unit rather than a central air system. Based on the quality of the accommodations, service, and facilities, this property more closely resembles a two- or three-star hotel rather than a five-star resort. In my opinion, the marketing and representation of this hotel are misleading and create expectations that are not met upon arrival. I would not recommend this property to travelers seeking a genuine luxury experience. Future guests should carefully review all available information before booking to avoid disappointment and an unpleasant vacation experience."

"My experience at this hotel was very disappointing and far below the standards one would expect from a property advertised as a five-star hotel. First, the customer service provided by the front desk staff was neither welcoming nor attentive, as should be expected in a luxury hotel. In particular, an employee named Effy was quite abrupt, unfriendly, and rude throughout our interactions. I strongly recommend that management provide additional customer service training to their staff. Furthermore, the overall condition of the hotel does not meet five-star standards. I will be attaching photos and videos that clearly demonstrate the property's condition. Although I booked and paid for what was advertised as an ocean-view room, I was given only a partial ocean view. I will also include photographs showing the actual view from the room. Additionally, American Express provided us with a $100 property credit to use during our stay, but the hotel manager did not allow us to use this benefit as intended. The bathroom had a persistent sewer-like odor, which was very unpleasant. The rooms are small, poorly equipped, and do not reflect the quality expected of a luxury hotel. The flooring is smooth and noticeably worn; when wet from rain, it becomes slippery and potentially hazardous. The air conditioning system is not central but rather a basic mini-split unit. Overall, this property should be rated as a two- or three-star hotel rather than a five-star establishment. Advertising it as a luxury property is misleading to potential guests. I would not recommend staying here and would advise future travelers to carefully consider other options to avoid having their vacation negatively affected by an experience like ours."

"One of the nicest resorts we have ever stayed at! The service from the doormen to the front desk to the servers was top notch. The room was very clean and comfortable. We stayed in one with a private pool which was beautiful, but not super functional. The water was very cold and pretty deep and tended to over flow onto the deck. We were only provided with small waters each night and would have loved more (you can't drink the tap water on the islands.) The breakfast buffet had a wonderful variety, the cocktails at the bar and pool were some of the best we had the entire trip. There is a bus station a couple blocks away that will take you into the famous section of Mykonos Town and Little Venice for about 2 Euros. The beach and beach clubs are also walking distance from the resort. Overall, this was my favorite place!"
