PB hotel design editorial

Cascading down the hillside above Platis Gialos in a sequence of whitewashed terraces that mirror the Cycladic vernacular of the village below, the Myconian Ambassador translates a deeply local architectural grammar into something considerably more precise. The property steps toward the Aegean in planes of rendered white concrete, each level claiming its own pool or sun terrace, the geometry softened only by the occasional stone pine and a gravel surface of white Mykonian pebble. That terracing, visible in the images as a stacked series of infinity-edged pools dropping toward the sea, gives the hotel its most distinctive formal quality — less a building encountered at once than a landscape unfolded in stages. The interiors apply the same restraint with slightly more warmth. Rooms are almost entirely white — polished plaster walls, white-lacquered furniture, Volakas marble in the open-plan bathrooms — with teal and indigo cushions in geometric patterns providing the only sustained note of colour, a reference to the Aegean itself rather than any decorative conceit. Freestanding soaking tubs sit behind full-height glass partitions that dissolve the boundary between bathroom and bedroom, while watercolour canvases in oceanic blues hang above the beds like framed views. The restaurant extends the language outward: raw island stonework against mirrored wall panels and white pergola beams, the Aegean coastline doubling in reflection as dusk turns the horizon electric blue.

"We were on holiday in Europe and decided to visit Greece. I found this Relais and Chateaux property and we booked a room. I cannot tell you how amazing this hotel is. Upon our entering we were greeted so warmly and professionally by the front staff. We were shown around the property and then seen to our rooms. The hotel even upgraded us. Our room was fabulous with a jacuzzi outside on our private deck. The views of the sea were spectacular. The room and bathroom were immaculate. The breakfast in the morning was phenomenal and the staff so courteous and attentive to anything we might need. The buffet was well thought out with all varieties of breakfast type offerings. We also had dinner in the hotel restaurant. Superb. The food was not only well prepared but the presentation was lovely. On top of delicious food and wonderful selections, the wait staff were very professional and extremely attentive to anything we might want or need. The wine selections were also wonderful. We also used the gym on several occasions. It had all the necessary equipment for a good workout. Everyone at the front desk were very professional and helpful. When we sought out information about things to do and how to get there the front desk was wonderful. When we decided at the last minute to take a boat trip, the front desk made the arrangements and arranged for a car to take us to the location for the boat pick up. I highly recommend this property. You will not be disappointed."

"AMAZING!!! We have had the most amazing 10 days at this hotel. Where to start? The hotel is definitely 5star and luxurious. From the superb breakfast buffet selection and table service to the pool area and the perfectly attentive Georgia and Christian always watching and waiting to help guests with their every need. Drinks, towels, umbrella assistance, to tidying again once a guest leaves the pool area. Nothing was ever too much for any of the staff. Service is high on the agenda of this hotel without a doubt!! Additionally the reception staff were also superb. Always friendly and eager to assist with any needs or advice re local restaurants. The location is ideal. I walk with a stick but found the location still ideal. Just a short 4 minute walk (for me) to the beach and its array of restaurants. Or go the other way up the hill to another restaurant about 10 minutes walk - Nikos Gallop - a very friendly family run Greek taverna style restaurant serving excellent fish and pasta dishes. The beach was too crowded for our taste so we stayed poolside through the day where it was the epitome of a relaxing and calming retreat. The loungers were unbelievably comfortable and luxurious and the view across to the sea and anchored yachts was outstanding. The bedrooms, I can only speak for ourselves, were more simple but still lovely. The bed was extremely comfortable and there was ample storage for our clothes. There was a mini fridge with bar inside. We don’t drink so asked for that to be emptied on day 1 which it was. Water is delivered along with additional fresh towels every evening. The towels may have just been for guests with a hot tub but not sure. The bathroom was beautiful with twin sinks and ample room. My only critic is that the patio chairs in the room, which were wooden (painted white) were quite uncomfortable and not one bit luxurious and therefore not really in keeping with the rest of the hotel. If you’re going to Mykonos and you want luxury you need to stay here. Thank you to all the staff for making our holiday so amazing!! Maddie and Dick from England."

"I have been to the Myconian Ambassador a few times and it never failed to give me what I need. I arrived emotionally exhausted and yet after just six days I was able to leave knowing that I would be able to face anything that the next three winter months could throw at me. The staff at the Ambassador are just wonderful. Attentive, kind and yet always have a sparkle in their eye. Breakfast is a meal that can go on forever with choice after choice of the best. The pool area is dangerous in that one never really wants to leave with gentle music, the cocktails and the poolside service only conducive to one becoming more and more idle (but very happy). Ditto the bar in the evening. The beds are like clouds and the sea view make it a joy to go to sleep and wake up in the sea view bedrooms. The only negative is having to leave."

"We loved our one week stay at this beautiful hotel. Nice room with a sea view, super attentive staff, excellent spa and gym facilities and great pool and restaurant setting with nice food and plenty of seats and loungers for a nice spot every day. Short walk to the beach front and only a 15 min drive to main town (taxi from hotel or bus from nearby). Highly recommended"
