PB hotel design editorial

Sitting above the arc of Megali Ammos beach, where the hillside drops toward one of Mykonos Town's closest stretches of sand, Myconian Kyma belongs to the Design Hotels collection and carries the considered ambition that membership implies. The architecture follows the Cycladic vernacular without being enslaved to it — whitewashed volumes, raw stone retaining walls, and pergola structures with tensile shade sails replace the usual fussiness of resort kitsch with something closer to an elevated private compound. The pool terrace at dusk, lit from beneath the water, arranges itself against the island skyline with the ease of a property that understands its site. Inside, the interiors navigate two distinct registers. Some rooms lean into a clean, almost Nordic-Aegean fusion — sculpted honeycomb headboards in white plaster, mustard occasional chairs, white-painted timber floors and globe pendants that keep things light and unencumbered. Others shift warmer, with cork-toned wall panels framing large-format botanical murals, woven rope sofas upholstered in Aegean teal, and Missoni-pattern drum floor lamps providing a flash of Italian textile confidence. The restaurant pulls both threads together: chartreuse banquette seating and sculptural branching timber ceiling installations set against exposed island stone walls, floor-to-ceiling glazing framing Delos on the horizon. The overall effect is a property that treats the Cycladic landscape as collaborator rather than backdrop.

"Great location, close to town & clean. Rest of our stay was disappointing. Booked a room with a land view & when we arrived we were shown a room with an enclosed balcony so the view was of a brick wall. Manager was only interested in providing an alternative at 230 euros per night more or a smaller room with a picture balcony. After 1.5hrs, we were given a room in the sister hotel which was originally reserved for cabin crew that were staying for only a few hours. Due to the late check in & room issues on arrival, we arrived 8 mins late for breakfast the following morning. Food & drink was still on the buffet but we were told that if we took an orange juice they would have to charge us as it was past 11am. This was a general theme, everything came at a cost & it felt like the hotel were not interested in creating an experience where you would want to return or recommend the hotel to others. The swimming pool was exceptionally cold & unusable. No guests were swimming. Such a shame as Mykonos is beautiful & if I return it will be to an alternative hotel."

"Set on a hill not far from Mykonos Town (easy walk) with great views over the town and nearby beach - and fabulous sunsets. The atmosphere, decor, service and amenities were fantastic. There are three properties on the site too with great restaurants and pools. My room was upgraded to a suite in the Korali sister property and was superb. The Myconian properties were well above most five stars."

"From the moment we arrived until the day we left, our experience was absolutely outstanding. The hospitality was exceptional, and every detail made us feel welcome and comfortable. The room was spotless, beautifully maintained, and cleaned to a very high standard every day. The bed was extremely comfortable, the air conditioning worked perfectly, and everything in the room was in excellent condition. It was clear that the owners genuinely care about providing a high-quality experience for their guests. The location was excellent—close enough to beaches, restaurants, and local attractions, yet peaceful and quiet, allowing us to relax and enjoy our stay. Waking up every morning in such a beautiful environment made the holiday even more special. What truly sets this place apart is the kindness and professionalism of the hosts. They were always available to help, offered great recommendations, and made us feel more like friends than guests. Their warm hospitality created a welcoming atmosphere that is difficult to find. The entire property was clean, well-organized, and beautifully presented. Every area reflected attention to detail and genuine pride in maintaining a high standard. The value for money was excellent, and our expectations were exceeded in every way. It is rare to find accommodation that combines comfort, cleanliness, excellent service, and such a friendly atmosphere all in one place. We would happily return without hesitation and will definitely recommend this hotel to our family and friends. Thank you for making our stay unforgettable. We look forward to visiting again in the future!"

"Excellent accommodations, wonderful staff, couldn’t be nicer and more helpful, excellent breakfast buffet, very nice pool area, gym and neighboring properties that you may use. Negative, which is not necessarily a hit on Mykonian Kyma, annoying 15 minute walk down to old town, no sidewalks, dangerous walking conditions with cars, buses, at atvs, motorcycles, etc going quickly up and down a narrow road with curves. Worse, after dinner you have to climb back up it. There are taxis that cost 20EU in each direction, the beach area is 35EU. My opinion is it would be nice for the Mykonian to offer some level of transport if nothing else part way."

"An exceptional stay that truly exceeded all expectations! Every detail reflects luxury—from the beautiful design to the stunning pool and outstanding food. A special thank to Mariana and Maria, from the restaurant, for their exquisite kindness and warm hospitality. Kyma is the epitome of luxury, we’ll definitely return! Dijana, Serbia"
