PB hotel design editorial

Perched above Elia Beach on Mykonos's southeastern coast, where the island's rocky spine drops sharply toward the Aegean, the Myconian Utopia Resort was conceived as a village rather than a hotel — a cluster of whitewashed cubic volumes cascading down the hillside in deliberate conversation with the Cycladic vernacular below. The Myconian Collection, the family-owned group behind the property, worked with local architects to embed the structure into the granite landscape using dry-stone retaining walls that tie the building to its site rather than imposing upon it. The interiors carry a studied roughness that sets them apart from the polished minimalism common to Greek island luxury. Freestanding stone and composite soaking tubs sit openly within the guest rooms, positioned to face Aegean views through floor-to-ceiling glazed doors framed by linen curtains in warm sand tones. Driftwood consoles, woven rattan pendant shades, dark-stained timber bed platforms, and knotted rope canopies — visible both in the rooms and across the pool terrace — give the spaces an ethnographic warmth, as if the sea had deposited its materials and someone had arranged them with great care. The restaurant opens through folding steel-framed glass walls onto panoramic views of the cape, its live-edge communal table and woven black pendant lights bridging the raw and the considered. On the infinity pool deck, macramé-fringed canopies strung between Norfolk pines frame one of the more quietly theatrical seascapes in the Cyclades.

"We stayed here at the Utopia, for 13 nights for our first holiday to Mykonos. Honestly from the moment you arrive you are treated like royalty! Everyone was so attentive to our every need. To the fantastic reception staff, Katerina Sotiria, Gabriel, George who were all so professional and helpful every day. Thanks to you Pavlina for organising lunch at ‘Scorpious’ for Our Wedding Anniversary… at very short notice!!! The rooms were fabulous with amazing views, and cleaned twice daily by the wonderful housekeeping. Breakfast was outstanding as was lunch and dinner, top class cuisine. Restaurant Hostess Juliette, couldn’t do enough to welcome us every day, always so professional, and kind. Alex restaurant Manager and all the fantastic staff, Asimita, Georgia, Nicole Ava and Irene, all made our dining experience so special and enjoyable! Thanks to you all for a truly wonderful visit, We would highly recommend Myconian Utopia to anyone, and look forward to a return visit soon! Kenny Family"

"The resort is gorgeous, exceptionally clean, and offers a perfect sea view. My only complaint was that the gym is quite small and has limited equipment. Otherwise, our stay was very comfortable. The hotel staff was friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. The included breakfast was excellent, and the restaurant staff was very attentive. Our room was beautifully decorated, comfortable, and well maintained. The resort is located quite far from Mykonos Town, but fortunately, they provide transportation to and from their sister resorts as well as into town. The last pickup from Mykonos Town is at 11:30 p.m., which was very convenient. They also arranged to pick us up from the harbor after we took a Seajets ferry from Athens to Mykonos, which was greatly appreciated. Overall, we had a wonderful and very comfortable stay and would definitely recommend the resort."
