PB hotel design editorial

Dry-stacked local schist and whitewashed render sit side by side at Rocabella Mykonos Hotel & Spa, an opposition that defines the property's architectural identity more than any single gesture. Set above Agios Stefanos bay on the island's northern coast, the complex arranges its roughly forty rooms across a low-rise cluster of cylindrical and cubic volumes that reference the vernacular farmstead compounds of the Cyclades without retreating into pastiche. The massing steps organically across the hillside, arched openings and rounded towers anchoring the stone-built lower levels while bright plaster volumes rise above — the whole composition legible from the water as something that grew from the terrain rather than was imposed upon it. Inside, two distinct registers emerge across the room categories. The older-style accommodations lean into classic island simplicity — whitewashed walls, weathered pine dressing tables, striped cotton throws, and French doors flung open to whitewashed balconies with unbroken Aegean views. The newer suites move toward a more considered material palette: polished lime plaster in warm sand tones, large-format stone-effect tiling, caged black pendant lights, and built-in plaster benches that curve with the cylindrical walls. The poolside restaurant shelters beneath exposed timber beam ceilings, woven-rope chairs and teak tables arranged against rough schist walls hung with carved wooden roundels, natural linen drapes tied back to frame the Aegean at dusk. The effect is closer to a well-edited private compound than a conventional hotel.

Rocabella Mykonos Hotel & SPA Reviews

"I stayed at Rocabella Mykonos for two nights, and from the moment I arrived, I knew this would be a special experience. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, with a strong attention to detail evident throughout the property. Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by staff eager to assist with my luggage. During check-in, I was offered a complimentary glass of champagne, which immediately set the tone for a luxurious stay. Afterward, a member of the team gave us a tour of the hotel before escorting us to our room, making sure we were completely satisfied before bringing our luggage up. The rooms are modern, elegant, and exceptionally comfortable, offering incredible views of the Aegean Sea. Waking up each morning to those views alone was worth the stay. The breakfast exceeded all expectations. The talented chef puts together an impressive spread featuring both classic breakfast favorites and delicious Greek specialties. The quality, variety, and presentation were outstanding each morning. While the property itself is stunning, the real star of the show for me was the staff. One of the greatest advantages of a boutique hotel is the ability to create genuine connections with guests, and the team here excels at exactly that. Their attention to detail, commitment to cleanliness, and personalized service leave a lasting impression. What stood out most was their willingness to go beyond simply providing service. They took the time to get to know their guests. Whether it was serving drinks poolside, remembering your preferences, or even setting up a table outside the dining area because they knew it was your favorite spot, they consistently went above and beyond to make the experience special. One feature of the hotel that I found especially helpful was their use of WhatsApp to communicate with guests. The staff uses it to answer questions, coordinate transportation, and assist with requests throughout your stay. If you don’t already use WhatsApp, I would recommend downloading it before arrival, as it makes communicating with the hotel quick and convenient. The pool area thoughtfully designed with a variety of comfortable seating and luxurious cabana-style loungers, it offers the perfect place to relax day or night. The infinity pool appears to blend into the horizon, creating breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea and the nightlife across the coastline. In the evening, the warm ambient lighting transforms the space into a peaceful and elegant retreat, making it just as enjoyable after sunset as it is during the day. Whether enjoying a cocktail by the pool, lounging under the covered daybeds, or simply taking in the panoramic sea views, this area captures the beauty and tranquility of the Greek islands. A special shoutout goes to Tasos and Rozalind, the two staff members I interacted with most during my stay. Tasos was exceptional throughout my visit. He was attentive, friendly, funny, and always professional. What impressed me most was how many roles he seamlessly handled during the evening shift. Depending on the moment, he could be found bartending, hosting guests, serving tables, and ensuring everyone around the pool and restaurant was taken care of. Since the night shift often operates with a smaller team, Tasos would frequently manage multiple responsibilities at once, especially when Rozalind was away handling guest transfers into town. Despite wearing so many hats, he never appeared rushed and always took the time to engage with guests, remember preferences, and make everyone feel welcome. His cocktails were consistently excellent, even when I requested something unfamiliar, and his positive attitude played a major role in making each evening enjoyable. Rozalind, who worked at the reception desk, was equally outstanding. Many of my interactions with him involved arranging transportation into town. The hotel offers a convenient shuttle service for a fee, which I greatly appreciated since navigating Mykonos traffic can be challenging. Rozalind was always professional, personable, and enjoyable to talk with. He made every interaction effortless and helped make my stay even more enjoyable. Luxury accommodations are important, but it is the people who create truly memorable experiences. The staff at Rocabella turned an already beautiful property into a place I genuinely looked forward to returning to each day. I would not hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Mykonos. Rating: 5/5 stars."

"A truly special stay. Rocabella manages to feel effortlessly cool without sacrificing warmth or family-friendliness, which is a rare achievement. The staff were outstanding, particularly the front desk team, who couldn’t have been more helpful. The views are breathtaking, the rooms are spacious and beautifully designed, and the whole hotel has a calm, welcoming atmosphere. We leave with wonderful memories and hope to return one day."

"I had the loveliest time at this hotel! Everything from the staff to the rooms and food was perfect. Anthony, Rozalind, Rafael and Nikos were some of the kindest people I’ve ever met. You should definitely stay here for your time in Mykonos, they made my stay extremely comfortable."

"Couldn’t recommend this hotel enough from start to finish our experience was amazing! We arrived later than expected due to a delayed flight, the staff encouraged us to get something to eat first before the restaurant closed and were happy to complete check in once we’d done this. They also took our bag up to our room in the meantime. The staff were on hand at all times and were always happy to help to ensure our stay was memorable! Couldn’t imagine coming back to Mýkonos and staying anywhere else."

"My boyfriend and I had an absolutely wonderful time at Rocabella Mykonos. We were warmly greeted at reception with a welcome drink, which was a very pleasant beginning to 4 heavenly days there. The atmosphere is most lovely and relaxing, the staff (every single one) were incredibly accommodating and professional, the standards of hospitality are very high. Their restaurant Reeza offers lovely food options (photos attached) and we had a great wine tasting with Tasos. Nearby is a nice beach and a pretty monastery, we have also enjoyed the pool and the spa (massage) at the hotel."
