PB hotel design editorial

Cycladic dry-stone walling and the vocabulary of a contemporary Aegean resort hold an unlikely conversation at Royal Myconian, the flagship property of the Myconian Collection perched above Elia Beach on Mykonos's southeastern coast. The architecture steps down the hillside in a series of terraced volumes, their rubble-stone arches and warm-lit colonnades — visible at the water level in the evening pool shots — giving way to crisp white rendered surfaces as the building climbs. It is a layering of registers that mirrors the island itself: ancient material culture pressed against the appetite for sleek modern comfort. The interiors resolve that tension with considerable restraint. Guest rooms are rendered entirely in white — plastered walls, white-upholstered armchairs, white linens — with warmth introduced through raw wooden accent stools, small carved figurines in weathered timber, and a gridded wall sculpture in brushed metal. The effect is closer to a considered private residence than a resort room, the Aegean framed through full-height casement windows like a painting. On the rooftop bar, tufted stools in a charcoal herringbone weave pull up to a curved dark-stone counter dressed with white resin monkey sculptures — a flash of irreverence that cuts through the prevailing solemnity. Below, the constellation-lit infinity pool stretches toward the Aegean horizon at dusk, its submerged LED points scattered across the water like a displaced night sky.

"The hotel is situated on a really steep hill so was not suitable for my husband who has some minor mobility issues. The travel agency did not read the brief. There are shuttle buses and we really did need them. The website from the hotel is misleading so check exactly what is included in your room. We were very disappointed with our Premium Room especially the view which was strictly speaking a sea view but only if you peered through a couple of other buildings. The flat screen TV is there but there is no access to many of the channels advertised - so no BBC or Sky or any other English speaking options. The hotel is very stylish and stunning from a decor point of view but it is soulless. Food is OK but not super impressive. The staff varied hugely - some very friendly and lovely and some utterly aggressively horrid. The best thing is the beach and beach beds which are super comfortable and the beach staff were nice. Not impressed."

"It started with a terrible welcome at the Port. We arranged the transfer with the hotel and there wasn’t anyone waiting for us at the port. According to the hotel the ferry was late and the driver left, what was surprising, specially considering that transfers from all other hotels were there. To complete the bad experience the service in the pool is beyond bad. After waiting for a waiter for more than 20 minutes I’ve decided to go find someone at the restaurant to order two drinks and french fries. And paid 44 euros - I would expect to have a better experience with this cost."

"Hotel is beautiful. If you’re looking for a quiet time in Mykonos with a luxury feel then this hotel certainly won’t disappoint. Hotel is modern, white with modern Greek decor and very clean. Our room was fabulous. We booked superior sea view room and views are indeed breathtaking. Very spacious with a lounge area, lovely big bed, big terrace, big bathroom. Breakfast was very good. Plenty to choose from and you can also order an omelette or eggs your style if you wish. We only ate in one restaurant, Celebrities. It was a delicious meal but we found the restaurants too expensive in general. €100 for one course dinner with bread to start is a bit too much every day. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from in the nearby sister hotels but all equally as expensive. Hence we ate either at two Elia beach restaurants (only a few min walk) or Mykonos town or Ano Mera which is only less than 10 min away. While you won’t get value for money anywhere in Mykonos I don’t think, we found those a bit cheaper. The shuttle from the hotel to Mykonos town is very handy. Only takes 25 minutes. Loungers by the beach and by the pool are next level. Very thick, very much like bed style and so comfortable you can relax and fall asleep easily! The beach is amazing, super clean with clear turquoise water. Picturesque! Service at the hotel is certainly worth mentioning as It’s exceptional. Staff all around were amazing, friendly, attentive and very helpful. Service was excellent from pool/beach area to restaurant. Special mention goes to Angelo at the pool area who made our stay that little bit more special. While we enjoyed our stay in Myconian Imperial as the hotel was fabulous and have given it 5 stars for the hotel look, staff and location however… there are a few key points to highlight and for Hotel Management to consider: - Pool: it’s gorgeous looking and very inviting but water is freezing as it’s not heated. It’s salt water pool so classy idea, but cannot use it as it’s just unpleasantly cold. There was hardly anyone in it at any given time. In July and Aug it’s probably better if the temperature is low to high 30s, but in Sept temperature is mid to high 20s. It was very disappointing. - Spa Prices: while those facilities are premium and no doubt fabulous, they were too expensive in comparison to any other massage facilities we have used while one holidays. We wanted a massage but couldn’t justify the price. - Tea / coffee facilities: there are none in the room and I think as a 5 star hotel it really should have those supplied in the room as each basic tea/coffee costs €5. - Room service delivery is €6. This really should be free in a 5 star hotel as you’re already paying premium rate for services such as this one. We had a lovely nice time here, but a couple of improvements above would make it even better."

"1. The welcome and service From the very first moment, the arrival was perfect: a warm, smiling staff always ready to assist with any request. I truly felt they cared about making us feel at home, but with the highest level of style. 2. The room Spacious, bright, and equipped with every comfort. Extremely comfortable bed, impeccable cleanliness, and every detail well thought out. The view? Breathtaking — the Aegean Sea stretching to the horizon, sunsets straight out of a postcard. 3. The location Perfect setting: peaceful and relaxing, yet close enough to enjoy the lively Mykonos nightlife whenever you want. 4. Food & breakfast Breakfast was absolutely royal, with an incredible variety of fresh, delicious options. Every meal was an experience: local flavors, beautifully presented dishes, and balanced tastes. 🙌 Special thanks A heartfelt thank you to Sophia, Natalia, and Antonia: three amazing girls whose smiles, professionalism, and dedication truly made a difference. Always attentive, kind, and caring — you were the magical touch of this vacation. Thank you for making everything perfect!"
