PB hotel design editorial

Kampos sits inland from Paros's more celebrated coastlines, a quieter agricultural plain where the island's characteristic light falls on dry stone walls and silver-leafed olive trees. Into this landscape, Makridis Associates has set Parian Chronicle Hotel Paros, a Destination by Hyatt property due to open in 2026, building in the idiom of the Cyclades without simply quoting it: flat-roofed whitewashed volumes banded in coursed local schist, private plunge pools stepping down from each villa in shallow terraced cascades, the whole composition low enough to read as a hillside settlement from above. Inside, the palette runs to raw plaster, bleached oak, and undyed linen, materials that reference Parian marble in their cool neutrality without requiring it. Woven rattan ceiling panels in the restaurant give warmth to spaces that might otherwise feel severe, while chunky turned-wood pendants and low travertine table bases keep the dining room grounded in craft. Guest rooms feature exposed timber beams or sculpted reed ceiling panels depending on their category, with oak-framed lounge chairs and rounded stone side tables completing a material story that holds together convincingly across 50 rooms and suites. Thirty-nine of those include private pools, the remainder offering jacuzzis set into stone-walled terraces. The pool bar, sheltered under a timber pergola with rattan pendant lighting and a backlit shelf of spirits, extends the warmth of the interiors into the open air without a shift in atmosphere.
