Best for: Architecture enthusiasts and collectors of Cycladic design

Highlights:

  • Whitewashed cubic volumes anchored by local schist stone walls
  • Interiors with slatted ceilings referencing traditional boat-timber construction
  • Infinity pool overlooking Punda Beach and the Aegean horizon
Minimalist-Mediterranean

PB hotel design editorial

Cycladic vernacular architecture has always rested on two gestures — the whitewashed cube and the rough-cut stone wall — and the design of Summer Senses Luxury Resort on Paros's Punda Beach presses both into service with unusual discipline. The property cascades down a hillside above the Aegean in a series of two-storey white render volumes whose clean cubic massing is anchored at ground level by dry-stone boundary walls and structural piers in local schist, the same warm ochre and grey stone that terraces the surrounding scrubland. Native maquis planting and white gravel paths thread between the units, softening what might otherwise read as a development and pulling the landscape into the architecture rather than surrounding it. The interiors carry that same restraint indoors, where slatted white-painted ceilings borrow their rhythm from traditional Cycladic boat-timber construction and give each room a domestic rather than institutional ceiling. Headboards arrive in reeded rattan or striped upholstery panels in tonal blues and stone, teal cushions and navy throws pulling the sea palette in without forcing it. Woven-cord dining chairs and reed-panelled pergola ceilings furnish the terrace restaurant, which frames an unobstructed view toward the water through schist piers that mirror the external stonework. At dusk, the infinity pool holds the last of the Aegean light, the harbour below and the silhouette of a neighbouring island settling into the horizon behind it.

"I am writing this as I am still staying here for a few more days. This hotel is not only luxurious but all of the staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. Service is excellent and very detailed to the point of our cleaning ladies adding a bookmark for my book I left behind in the room one day. Mimi at the concierge is fantastic, she booked all of our excursions. Breakfast is delicious with ala cart and buffet high quality options, beautiful beach less than a five minute walk and picturesque beach town under a ten minute walk. We were looking for a relaxing family hotel and we found it. Will definitely be back."

"Where do I even begin? Usually, when you stay somewhere, there are one or two things that really stand out. But what are the odds of finding a place that gets absolutely everything right? The food was exceptional, the rooms were beautiful, the service was flawless, the atmosphere was unforgettable, and the staff… simply beyond words. From the moment we arrived, Joana at reception made us feel as though we were reconnecting with an old friend. She went far above and beyond to make every part of our stay special and memorable. Alex, who transported us few times , was one of the kindest, warmest, and most genuine people we’ve ever met. Their hospitality wasn’t just professional—it was heartfelt. And then came the moment that truly proved what this place stands for. I accidentally left a very expensive item behind in our room after checking out. Not only did the team contact us immediately, but they also arranged express courier delivery so it reached us before we left the country. That level of honesty, integrity, and genuine care is incredibly rare. Yes, this is a luxury expensive resort, but after experiencing this level of excellence, I can honestly say it is worth every cent. I don’t just recommend this place, I would bet on it. If you’re looking for a truly exceptional experience, this is it!!!!!!"

"My wife Julie and I were recommended by a travel agent in Westchester, NY to come to Summer Senses in Paros. We had an amazing time as the staff, was so friendly and the food was excellent. We had room #502 w our own plunge pool and enjoyed the amenities that the hotel had to offer. Great spa and Great Food and Cocktails, giving this retreat a 10 out of 10 as I have traveled to many hotels and this place is by far one of the top destinations in Greece. Brian G"

"Only here for a few days but right away started on a bad note. AVOID AVOID for families. Expensive food. Options are a pool kids/shorter people can't touch in or a kiddie pool. Pictures are deceiving. NO balls or anything allowed in pool. Beach is a descent walk away and a steep hill. Fine on the way there, not so much on the way back. So glad we are going out somewhere else next 2 days. It has a beautiful view and clean is the only positives but that only lasts so long for a family."
