PB hotel design editorial

Carved into the caldera rim at Imerovigli, the highest point on Santorini's volcanic ridge, the architecture of Andronis Concept Wellness Resort treats the cliff face not as a backdrop but as its primary structural logic. The cascading terraces visible in the images — dark-rendered concrete platforms stepping down toward the water in a series of cantilevered infinity pools separated by bands of volcanic lava planting — are less a design gesture than a direct response to the island's geology, echoing the layered pumice and basalt strata of the caldera walls themselves. From above, the composition has the controlled geometry of a land art installation; at water level, it dissolves into the Aegean. The interiors work a considered counterpoint to that raw exterior. Polished concrete floors in the suites shift to wide-plank darkened timber in the standard rooms, both palettes kept deliberately spare so that the framed caldera views through full-height sliding glass doors hold complete dominance. Wire dining chairs on the sunset terrace — closely related to Harry Bertoia's 1952 Diamond chair — sit alongside solid slab-cut timber tables, a pairing that keeps the outdoor dining spaces feeling provisional and light rather than formally dressed. Red accent cushions and graphic black-and-white upholstery on the ottomans introduce the only real chromatic punctuation, while organic live-edge coffee tables ground the whitewashed volumes in something tactile and warm.

"Our 4 nights stay at the Andronis Concept Wellness Resort this October was nothing short of magical, a perfect blend of breathtaking beauty and genuinely heartfelt hospitality that left us so impressed. From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in an experience that felt like a warm nostalgic embrace, thanks to the extraordinary staff and the stunning surroundings of the hotel and the spectacular views from the hotel. Two definite highlights of our stay were undoubtedly: 1. The truly picturesque view from our room (we stayed in the Wet-Allure room) felt like a dream. Perched above the sparkling Aegean Sea, the panorama from the room's private pool was nothing short of breathtaking. The caldera’s dramatic cliffs, the endless blue of the sea, and the iconic Santorini sunsets painted a scene that was both serene and awe-inspiring. We were so grateful that we had the opportunity to wake up to this view for 4 mornings. 2. What truly elevated our stay, however, was the staff at Andronis Concept. From the front desk to the restaurant to the spa to the hiking guide, every single person we encountered was a shining example of kindness, professionalism, and genuine care. I was blown away how every staff member that I interacted with remembered my name the next time they saw me. I really enjoyed talking to the staff and getting to know a little about them and their job at Andronis Concept; also a bit about their lives and their goals and aspirations. The front desk team always greeted us with warm smiles and made every interaction feel personal, effortlessly handling our requests with grace and efficiency. They have this super useful whatsapp system where you can contact them at any time with any request and they will do their best to fulfil it. I used it extensively during our stay and left feeling that it was more helpful than chatgpt. For example, we discovered a small but noticeable leak from the base of our sink late on the first night. A simple whatsapp message to explain the situation and decide on a time for someone to fix it next morning and it was all taken care of. Special mention goes to Marios, the two lovely ladies with blond hair and the charming lady with long red hair. The staff at breakfast were simply delightful and their friendliness and attentiveness made us feel like honoured guests. Special mention goes to Vallantis and Filomena who really looked after us and were so accommodating to our needs. The spa team was equally exceptional. Maria from the spa gave me THE MOST incredible deep muscle massage. I am convinced her hands and arms must have healing magic in them. Our stay at Andronis Concept was so seamless, so easy and so stress-free. They only have 28 rooms so it really was very peaceful and quiet. Andronis Concept is more than a resort; it’s a special place where stunning views and heartfelt hospitality come together to create unforgettable memories. Everyone, without exception, went above and beyond to ensure we felt looked after and truly valued. We are already dreaming of our next visit."

"Apart from the staff (the entire staff was excellent) and the restaurant food, there was very little I found appealing at Adronis Concept on Santorini. I will say however that if you like practically everything (and I mean everything) built of concrete and block, than this would be your place. I found it WAY too contemporary and very uncomfortable. Lets start with Check-in. My second turn-off (next to the already mentioned “Flintstone" decor) was the check-in process. They basically sit you down and proceed to go through all the services they want to sell you. When we said all of our activities had already been booked by our travel agent, they were visibly disappointed. The process was a complete waste of valuable vacation time. Next, lets talk about the room. Again, all concrete and block. As you walk in you find 2 very contemporary chairs and a table all in a fairly large space (totally wasted space if you ask me). We never used it. Off this room was a half bath. Again wasted space and not used. Opposite the entry are stairs going up and a set of steps that went down into a very small area that contained a loveseat, TV and sliding doors onto a balcony. Again, totally wasted space and never used. Upstairs was a nice bedroom and large bath (warning - you had to walk down about 3 steps to get into the bathroom). Not sure if there was any indication of all the stairs at this Adronis on the website but people with wheelchairs or issues with stairs please beware. The bedroom also had sliding doors out onto a balcony with a small soaking pool. This was yet another waste because we visited at the end of the Santorini season when the island temperatures are in the low 70s and none of the pools are heated. On the last day of our stay we experienced 2 issues. First, the power went out for approximately 20 minutes. During this time there was ZERO communication from the resort staff. Second, it was raining outside and water started flooding our room (btw we were on the second floor). I called the Front Desk and they sent housekeeping up to mop up the water. That was nice but it didn’t fix the problem. Water continued to flood the room and an hour later I had to request (note - I had to request, it was never offered) to change rooms. This took another 30 minutes or so and we were moved slightly down the hall to another room. Lots of verbal apologies but no credits, no “be our guest”, or other tokens of appreciation for our inconveniences. Now lets talk about the room they moved us to. It wasn’t the same layout as the one we left and if you ask me, it room was WAY worse. This time you entered the room directly into the bedroom. It was furnished like our first room however the bathroom was DOWN A LONG FLIGHT of STAIRS! This is not a good thing when a toilet is needed in the middle of night when you are half asleep. When you finally do get downstairs, the entire space (equal to the bedroom space above) is all bathroom. It had a huge bathtub taking up most of the space in the room with a small shower and toilet at the end. Again, a total waste of space that we never used. The shower had chipping paint and mold. Unless you like block and concrete decor and stairs everywhere with rooms with lots of wasted space and amenities that you are paying for but that you can’t use, you should find another Santorini hotel/resort. I for one will definitely NOT be back."

"Just wow! We had the most amazing time celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary!! Having read all the reviews we were expecting great things but it still exceeded our expectations! The Hotel is architecturally beautiful, the grounds around it supplying local produce to the incredible restaurant! Every window looking out over the magical Caldera! The staff - from the front desk, waiting on and room attendants were brilliant with the most attention to detail - even noticing I had forgotten a bookmark for my book at putting one in place! As I said we were celeb our anniversary and they organised rose petals and candles for our first night! Stunning! It was also my husbands birthday whilst we were there and we were gifted a bottle of champagne! The room was totally incredible - split level so went downstairs to bath (which was huge!) shower room and dressing area and upstairs where the bed was was the view out to the balcony - day bed, our own infinity pool and those views!!!! Incredible sunsets! We used the spa which was utterly beautiful and had massages - mine was the hot stones and the best I have ever had! We did a yoga session offered by the hotel which was brilliant and the room was had the stunning views again! We went to the Throubi Restaurant - the food was immense and super delicious! The mushrooms I had to start were a taste sensation! Unfortunately we couldn’t sit out that evening as it was too windy but we had the perfect table inside! We hired a quad. Ike for 3 days and it was perfect for getting out and about and seeing the island - definitely recommend that! All in all it was a perfect holiday - couldn’t fault it in any way! Thank you so much!!"

"The Andronis Concept Wellness Center was the best hotel experience I've ever had. The staff was top notch. Maria in particular was so helpful, and from the moment we arrived, helped us build and itinerary that included both fun and self care. The rooms are immaculate with the view of the Caldera. The spa treatment was very relaxing. The restaurant staff was so friendly, and provided a level of warmth and service that made it even better. I highly recommend staying here."
