PB hotel design editorial

Carved directly into the volcanic caldera cliff face at the northern tip of Oia, the cluster of cave dwellings and whitewashed cubic volumes that make up Andronis Luxury Suites has less in common with conventional hotel architecture than with the vernacular hyposkafa tradition of Santorini — the island practice of hollowing living spaces from the pumice and ignimbrite deposited by the Minoan eruption some 3,600 years ago. Seen from above, the property spreads across the cliff in an aerial composition of rounded domes, flat terraces, and interconnected circulation paths that mirrors the organic growth of the village itself rather than asserting any designed master plan. Multiple infinity pools, edged in dark volcanic pebble, appear to dissolve directly into the Aegean below. The interiors operate across two registers. Older suites follow the established Cycladic language — polished concrete floors in grey-brown tones, slipcovered chairs in pale linen, arched windows with grey-painted shutters framing caldera light at its most unmediated. More recently updated rooms have moved toward a quieter palette: sage-toned microcement walls, low oak bed platforms, floor-length natural linen curtains, and sculptural circular wall sconces that carry a faint echo of Apparatus Studio's work, all arranged around the hotel's signature gesture of placing a deep soaking tub within the bedroom itself. At the cliff edge, the Lycabettus restaurant extends onto a volcanic rock promontory where candlelit tables sit suspended above the darkening caldera — one of the more theatrically sited dining terraces in the Aegean.

"We stayed 3 nights in May. Weather was cold but there is nothing anyone can do about that. Arrival was a bit scrambled. We arrived, no one seemed to know what to do, then they sorted stuff out apologized and took our luggage to check in. Check in was nice. Pretty room, nice people. They try to sell you on excursions and restaurants. We went to their restaurant the first night, it was ok. We found the food was always cold. Mind you it was cold outside. We had the lobster for 2 to 4 people, it wasn't very fresh. Breakfast the first day I got sick from, I was really sick all day after eating breakfast, I think the meat in the eggs bennie was off . I was really excited about eating greek food and it was ok, not great. Room was beautiful and clean. They only give you one towel each, in a posh hotel it should be more. The hot tub was a warm tub not hot and full of dirt so we did not use it. The shower was never warm water, I froze each shower. The water was luke warm but never warm or hot. In a high end hotel I would expect hot water. Power went out one night for about 3 hours, other hotels beside us had power but not our villas so that was weird. During the day people below us had their music cranked while we tried to relax, I think it should be better monitored. While the hotel tries to be high end it is missing a few details. It's definitely a nice place, but just not on par with other high end hotels I have stayed at. Would I return, no, but was it nice, yes."

"I can't speak highly enough about this property. Amazing setting, fantastic rooms and superb service and friendly staff. From the pre arrival communication, to the What's app chat and hotel app for bookings, everything was seamless. Room was an Infinity pool suite overlooking the caldera, which although there were 70 steps down too it, was worth it! food was great and breakfast was an amazing array of items all freshly cooked to order. I would have no hesitation suggesting a visit here to anyone ."

"Wher do I start. I've traveled around the world and I can without hesitation say the best place I have ever stayed was the Andronis Luxury Suites. Not just the property but every single person that works there were incredible people. Everybody went above and beyond expectations witrh service and personality. I would take up a few pages stating everybody and recognizing all they did for us. I will recognize one person for sure and that was the concierge Chloe! She was the most attentive and helpful young lady on the planet. She did so many extra things that made our trip magical. Not one suggestion was off but was absolutely perfect in so many ways. Thank You to EVERYBODY at the Andronis. WE WILL be back and hope to see each and every one of you again"

"This is a special place. The warm service, the spectacular views , a stunning terrace with complimentary wine and snacks was a great start. It kept getting better. Relaxing in a private infinity pool looking at the sea view was so relaxing. Inside, the suite was very spacious. The restaurant had delicious food with gorgeous views."
