PB hotel design editorial

Carved into the caldera rim above Fira, where the volcanic cliff drops sharply toward the submerged crater of one of the ancient world's most violent eruptions, Cosmopolitan Suites turns that geological drama into its central design argument. The property works within the Cycladic vernacular — whitewashed render, arched apertures, smooth cubic volumes that step down the cliff face — but tempers the folkloric associations with a cooler, more contemporary interior sensibility. Rooms are stripped to near-abstraction: walls and floors in continuous white, linen curtains filtering Aegean light, striped cotton throw blankets in navy and ivory providing the only chromatic relief. A sculptural pendant light formed from dark faceted volumes — somewhere between a mobile and a mineral specimen — appears across multiple suites, introducing an unexpected note of geometric tension against the curved plaster ceilings. The outdoor spaces make the strongest case for the property. Private terrace terraces are furnished with low modular sofas in stone-grey upholstery, small olive trees planted in white rendered planters grounding each platform against the void beyond the balustrade. The infinity pool, positioned at the caldera's edge, dissolves into a view that takes in Fira's white cascade of buildings, the dark volcanic outcrop of Nea Kameni, and the open Aegean beyond — a composition that no amount of careful design could improve upon, and that the hotel, wisely, makes no attempt to compete with.

"The "Suites" had been recommended by our daughter who stayed the previous year. The rooms have amazing views and you can spend the day watching the cruise ships and activity out at sea. The room was very comfortable and had a small balcony which enjoyed full sun most of the day. You had to climb down a tight spiral staircase to room 10, but I think this is the only downside of being on a cliffside location. Breakfast choices were really good and you could have it delivered to your room or eat by the pool. The pool looks amazing. It is small but adequate. The location was perfect and we could escape from the cruise liner tourists whenever we wanted. We would certainly go back there again."

"This place is terrible, they sent you a link to pay and confirm the reservation, which I didn't use and decided to not move forward and at that very moment I told them I needed to cancel they used my card and charged me full amount and told me it could not be cancelled. Really bad customer service. Better to book elsewhere if they are not willing to help their clients."

"We had a great experience in this Hotel. I was there with my fiance for 4 nights and we will recommend Cosmopolitan Suites to any of our friends or family. The size of the rooms are perfect, the jacuzzi at the rooms, the bathrooms, the design of the rooms and decoration, the AC works great, nespresso machine, etc. The place is close to Restaurants and shoppings. The view from the pool is gorgeous and last but not least, the service from every single team member was fantastic. They were quick, responsive, they have nice recommendations for restaurants and excursions. They organize for the guests whatever you need."

"Anastasia is my girl. From the moment I booked she was offering (amazing) restaurant recommendations and offering to make reservations, scheduling our in room massages (I’m a massage snob and they were INCREDIBLE), and coordinating our airport transfer (highly recommend, so comfy and they carry your bags for you). We arrived and were greeted with cheers and homemade lemonade plus great local tips on making the most of our experience, taken on a tour of the beautiful hotel, and set up in our room. The minibar is very reasonably priced. Our room had an AMAZING jacuzzi tub that was great for soaking after spending the day at the pool. The in room breakfast was phenomenal. Plus, I booked an outside sailing cruise and Anastasia and the staff coordinated with them on my behalf for the pickup. Major bonus that there’s a child age restriction. Half the reason my trip to Santorini was so incredible was because of the hospitality and beauty here!"

"My partner and I spent 4 nights here in late May and had a fantastic stay. The view is unbeatable— other tourists that weren’t staying here often peeked through the gate to snap photos. Some other highlights: beautiful room, strong A/C, nespresso machine, delicious made to order breakfast/coffee that was delivered to our room every morning, LOVELY and responsive staff/service, quiet, and a great location close to all the shopping/restaurants, as well as the trailhead for the Fira to Oia hike. This was absolutely a highlight of our first trip to Santorini and well worth the price."
