Carved directly into the volcanic caldera cliff at Imerovigli — the highest point on Santorini's rim — Vora is built into and around centuries-old cave dwellings, their hyposkafa forms left structurally intact while the interiors were stripped back to a severe, considered calm. The approach, led by Greek studio P+C Architects with interiors developed in close collaboration with the owners, treats the geological fabric of the island as the primary design material: raw volcanic stone walls appear alongside hand-trowelled lime plaster in tones that shift between bone and warm sand, barrel-vaulted ceilings curve overhead without ornament, and arched thresholds pass between rooms without doors, preserving the continuous, womb-like quality of the original cave architecture. The thirteen suites and villas each carry private plunge pools or terraces cantilevered over the caldera, their limestone deck surfaces and dark-tinted pool water calibrated to absorb rather than reflect the Aegean light. Interiors balance the monastic quality of the caves against carefully chosen furnishings — dark basalt-finish freestanding soaking tubs positioned to face the sea, woven rattan benches at the foot of linen-dressed beds, floating walnut shelves anchored to plaster walls — while outdoor dining terraces furnished in dark-stained teak sit flush against ancient stonework retained without restoration. The effect is one of deep continuity with the island's vernacular, filtered through a restraint that keeps every surface honest to the rock beneath it.

"Clinging to the edge of the caldera, the minimalist interior and exterior design and sense of total privacy make Vora very special. It is beautiful. But our most lasting memory of our eight days in Alpha Villa will be of the people – Sophia and Eva. Have you ever met someone new and instantly felt like you had been friends for years? The moment we arrived, it no longer felt like we were simply staying at Vora. We were staying with Sophia and Eva. Need to exchange ferry tickets at a travel agency in an unfamiliar part of the island? No problem, Eva is off to retrieve the tickets. Feeling like you might be coming down with a cold? Sophia suggests a bowl of chicken vegetable soup. It’s not on the menu but it’s delivered within an hour and it’s delicious. Just want to talk a bit about what it’s like to grow up on Santorini or what plans are in place for their time off after Vora closes for the season? Just ask. Vora has no restaurant, no place for anyone not staying in one of the villas to get a meal. For guests, it has the best food we had on the island – breakfast, lunch and dinner, all delivered to your villa by, yes, either Sophia or Eva. Try Sophia’s favorite dessert, fried chocolate croquette with vanilla Madagascar ice cream & butterscotch. Delicious. We don’t know how they do it given there are never more than diners from the three villas, but it seems as if the kitchen is constantly staffed. We didn’t meet Sophia and Eva’s partner who was with us overnight each night, but we’re guessing he could have delivered a bowl of yogurt with dried fruits or tea with honey and a biscuit at 3:00A if we had requested it. We must also recognize and say thank you to Riza. Apologies if we have misspelled his name. He is Sophia and Eva’s jack-of-all-trades, carrying heavy luggage up and down the steep villa steps, helping deliver meals, fixing a small plumbing issue, fulfilling daily room service, making sure the outdoor pillows are sheltered when rain approaches. Vora would not be as it is without Riza’s dedication to making everything work as it should. Yes, the sunsets were beautiful, but we’d argue there are beautiful sunsets many places. There is only one Vora. Have you ever had to say goodbye to a friend, knowing you likely will never again cross paths? We will cherish our Vora memories. One cautionary note – the steep spiral marble steps connecting the two story Alpha and Ro villas should be avoided by anyone with mobility issues."

"Hi fellow Traveller – listen to me carefully. If you’re considering booking this hotel, you must be ready for what awaits you here. Let’s start with the downsides: – My stomach was too small to hold all the delicious breakfasts, snacks, and dinners, to drink the amazing juices and aromatic coffees. – My soul was too insensitive to fully absorb the atmosphere and warmth of the staff. – My awareness too limited to truly grasp the beauty of these views – and take in every detail of that panorama. – And my vocabulary – too poor to describe the quality, lightness, professionalism, and warmth radiating from this place. That’s it for the downsides. Now, the upsides… This is a place where you’ll find everything a traveller seeks when longing for more than just accommodation. Looking for a “high-end” spot? This isn’t just „high-end.” This is the heart of Santorini. Our adventure started off roughly – we had just left a previous hotel that turned out to be completely different from what the pictures had promised. We spent six long hours walking around Imerovigli, checking out every available room. There were plenty, but none offered what we were truly looking for. We wanted something unique. Something that would let us immerse ourselves in the essence of Santorini. When we finally stood at the gates of Vora, we were exhausted. We were ready to settle for one of the mediocre hotels we had seen before – tired and resigned. But something pushed us to go just a bit further. The moment the doors opened, we saw well-kept plants and meticulously maintained steps leading downward. You know the feeling – you look at something and just sense: something good is about to happen. At the reception, we were greeted by Eva – incredibly polite, professional, and attentive. She led us to Villa Ro and introduced the hotel with such passion that we immediately felt taken care of. As soon as we stepped inside the villa, we were struck by the scent of freshness – stone, wood, soft perfumes. Every meter of space is designed with soul and intention. Even standing in the kitchen and looking through the arched doorway to the living room and beyond – everything forms a picture you want to remember. The kitchen – perfectly equipped, just like at home. The living room – upstairs, cool and peaceful, ideal for a midday rest. Downstairs – a bathroom like a work of art: fragrant, sparkling, with a large mirror, beautiful lighting, and aromatic lotions. Next door – the bedroom, with the most comfortable bed we’ve ever slept on. And across – a terrace with lush greenery and a huge cushion, perfect for morning meditation or a lazy evening. But the most important part — and to me, the very core of our stay – was the upper terrace. A completely private terrace, with no paths, no passageways to other hotels nearby or even within sight – it felt truly intimate. This terrace is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. With a view of the caldera, the volcano, and the endless sea. With an infinity pool where you lie back and gaze down at the cruise ships below as if they were toys. And now imagine this: here, in this space filled with silence and sun-soaked air – you’re having breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Each dish is made with heart and finesse, turning your meals into moments of joy and a defining feature of your day. Breakfasts are abundant, fresh, Greek, always served with exquisite attention to detail – and you can order without limits… In short: they’ll satisfy even the pickiest gourmet. Kudos to the chef and his wonderful assistant! And when the day slowly comes to an end, you sit on the same terrace – not to taste food, but to soak in a view that takes your breath away. The sunset casts light over the cliffs and the buildings of Imerovigli – and this sight doesn’t just end your day. It completes it. It wraps it up and leaves you with a deep sense of fulfillment. This is not just a sunset. It’s a spectacle. A feast for the senses. The essence of life on this planet that you can absorb with your soul and your heart. It’s a moving event that will stay with you for the rest of your life, like a master’s painting etched into your mind – a memory you’ll return to with that warm, profound feeling, as if coming home after a long journey. All this makes you feel not like a tourist here, but like a welcomed guest whose every need will be seen and fulfilled. The staff’s attention to detail is remarkable: you remove the bed cover? No one will insist on remaking it each day – yet your room will be perfectly cleaned. You place a little bowl in the bathroom for small waste? No one will move it an inch – nor your toiletries – yet the bowl will be emptied daily and the bathroom left spotless by the cleaning team. Sometimes you don’t even need to express your needs – they’ll still be noticed and met. Leading this level of service are two incredible women – and “receptionists” doesn’t quite cut it. I’d rather call them your personal assistants. They are two women of the highest personal culture: Eva – a kind and gentle professional with impeccable manners, always ready to answer any question, and Sofia – a warm, approachable hospitality virtuoso, with a natural touch and wonderful sense of humor, with whom conversations flow effortlessly. Together, they form a dream team that makes your stay at Vora – and your experience on Santorini – truly unforgettable. Whatever you wish for, you can count on their help in making it happen. They seem to know everything about the island and can recommend hidden gems free of tourists or take you to the lively, iconic spots. They’ll help you arrange a catamaran tour or even surprise you with a birthday cake :)) These two ladies could easily serve the most distinguished guests – and I felt genuinely honored to have crossed paths with them. This wasn’t just a hotel stay. It was the discovery of a secret. An experience that redefined our idea of beauty, hospitality, and what true rest can be. Fatigue turned to awe. Resignation to wonder. And the address Vora became something more than a dot on the map…"

"Wow! Vora is an exceptionally private, extremely comfortable and a stunning set of 3 villas in Imerovigli. My husband and I stayed for 3 nights in the middle of August, and from the time we were greeted out of our transfer to the time we were returned to Kamari we were made to feel like we were the only people on the Island - it was heaven on earth. The views, the service and the Villa were amazing. We stayed in Omikron and it was amazing. Don’t hesitate to stay here, you need to experience Vora!"

"Vora is a dream come true. It is the PERFECT vacation. The Villas are beautiful, luxurious, spacious, and comfortable. No details left behind. The views are breathtaking and the location is second to none. Vora's three Villas have the perfect balance between a five star hotel and an exclusive private Villa. The food and bar offerings are top and the service is impeccable. It is like having your own private concierge 24/7 for your entire stay. Sophia made our stay extra special. She was always at our service and was insightful, kind, smart and super efficient. Rizaldi was super friendly, respectful, and hard working. Trust me, no words could describe the experience at VORA. Just GO! I certainly hope to go back. Thank you VORA, for the vacation of a lifetime!"
