PB hotel design editorial

Curved tensile roof structures sweep along a private strip of Portici Beach on Grenada's southwest coast, their sail-like forms echoing the arc of the bay while anchoring Silversands Beach House Grenada to its site with an architectural confidence rare in Caribbean resort design. The property's massing resolves a genuine challenge: how to place a hotel against a dramatic volcanic headland — visible in the aerial as a palm-crowned promontory of dark rock dropping sheer into turquoise water — without the buildings competing with geology that has no interest in being outperformed. The answer is horizontal deference, structures kept low and pale, the tensile canopies doing the expressive work while the guest pavilions stay quiet behind them. Inside, the rooms sustain that restraint with considerable skill. Wide-plank timber floors in a warm blonde tone, linen-sheeted low-profile beds, and pairs of woven rattan lounge chairs arranged around cylindrical timber coffee tables carry a Scandinavian-tropical register that sidesteps both the overwrought planter aesthetic and the cold minimalism that afflicts too many white-wall beach hotels. The defining gesture in the guestrooms is the fenestration: floor-to-ceiling glazing framed by an arched or curved soffit that shapes the ocean view like a lens, sheer curtains softening the light without obscuring it. On the beachfront terrace, teak dining furniture sits beneath the same sweeping canopy forms seen from the water, the structure functioning simultaneously as shade, identity, and horizon-frame.

"Loved my time at silversands beach house to celebrate my husband's birthday. We went in a low tourist time so it was quiet and perfect for us. The rooms were small but beautiful. We appreciate the double vanity, rainfall shower and seperate toilet, the view was breathtaking and the patio generous. The staff are warm and helpful. The food in the restuarant was good. A step up from normal hotel food. We went to the main property twice and it was a nice add on to our time there. The inifinity pool is worth the trip and the shuttle was easy to book, I also think the snacks are better there too. We will definitely be back to Silversands Grenada. People there are really proud of their country and it shows in their interactions. If you go to Greneada try and book a tour with Mandoo and explore the island and learn its rich history."

"Location was amazing and guest services were spectacular. The accommodations and rooms were breathless. I would highly recommend this location for someone looking for a relaxed and secluded environment. The beach and poolside touches were excellent."

"This is going to be long, because what needs to be conveyed when describing The Silversands Beach House cannot be done effectively, in a few words. As I write this, it is the last morning of our stay here. This was our second visit and I wish we didn't have to leave this little piece of paradise. There is absolutely nowhere else I ever want to stay on the island of Grenada. Clarista Hillaire and her team, have curated such a luxurious, warm, and intimate environment here. This is luxury perfected, from the black car pickup at the airport, to the warm welcoming reception upon arrival (complete with welcome cocktails), to each staff member who greets you warmly and earnestly wants to make your experience as enjoyable as humanly possible. This property is a small, uniquely designed boutique resort, with immaculately maintained villas perched on the hillside overlooking the ocean. The attention to detail is amazing, right down to the landscape lighting plan. Wait until you see it at night. The beautiful location is one thing, but the staff here really make the experience so much more. Micah at the front desk, is  particularly wonderful, and he represents why hospitality done right is so important. He was always ready to greet us and ask about our day. Without hesitation, he would grab a golf cart to carry us to or from the villa. Yesterday, while driving us up to the villa, Micah asked about our plans for the evening. We casually mentioned, we were thinking about dinning at a local restaurant. We asked, if he knew whether we needed reservations. Micah told us we did need reservations, and then shared he's known the owner since childhood. He very casually picked up his cellphone and called him, right there and made our dinner reservation. Later, as the time approached, he made sure the front desk called our villa to ask whether we needed a car to take us. He didn't know we had already made transportation arrangements with friends. This is just one small example of how wonderful and attentive he was.   Sydney, in the hotel restaurant was a pleasure to see each morning. She has a soft voice filled with warmth and a ready smile. We arrived late to breakfast yesterday and our tour transport had also arrived. Sydney made suggestions about what could be prepared quickly, she made sure the front desk gathered beach towels for our excursion, and she had our breakfast boxed up and ready to go in no time. Thank you Sydney. Finally, I want to share a few words about Resort Manager Clarista Hillaire and then I'll stop. Ms. Hillaire...bravo, bravisimo!!!! On our first trip to Silversands Beach House, I found the resort mentioned in Travel & Leisure magazine. I reserved a villa months in advance. When we arrived in February 2024, the villa assigned was different than the one I selected those many months prior. We went back down to reception and sat with Clarista. I knew right away, we were in good hands. She was kind, professional, and  thorough. She researched the issue, confirmed my information, and made sure my expectations were realized. She was calm and reassuring throughout that process. During that stay, she made sure to check with us and determine if we needed anything and if we were having a wonderful time. This weekend, we returned to celebrate a birthday. Ms. Hillaire was waiting to greet us at reception. Big smiles and big hugs all around - like family. She surprised us with special touches in the villa, to include rose petals and birthday cake! Really above and beyond beautiful and meant so much to us. I hope this helps you understand my opening paragraph better. We have stayed at other 5-star resorts in the U.S. and abroad. Just know...there is no place, like this place. We love it here."

"My family and I had an amazing time at the Silversands Beach House. The manager and staff were very attentive to our needs making sure that we were comfortable and happy at all times. I injured my foot one evening. My driver informed the front desk of my condition. I received a call at 12 AM asking if I needed ice and it was sent to my room. Upon arrival we were greeted by the Resort Manager, who knew all our names by the time we left. I noticed that a guest was sunburned. The Resort Manager. Ms. Hilliare, asked one of her staff to prepare aloe for that guest who had no sign of sunburn the next day. I never received such personal attention at a hotel before. Every aspect of the property was of the highest quality. The breakfast, which is included, was quite enjoyable. The ability to use the amenities at the main property, and the free shuttle service add to the experience. I used the spa and had the Friday evening barbecue at the Grenadian Grill. I highly recommend both. The Breach House is a lovely property with a great beach and a dedicated staff. I had a lovely time and can’t wait to be back!"
