PB hotel design editorial

Curved tensile roof structures sweep along a private strip of Portici Beach on Grenada's southwest coast, their sail-like forms echoing the arc of the bay while anchoring Silversands Beach House Grenada to its site with an architectural confidence rare in Caribbean resort design. The property's massing resolves a genuine challenge: how to place a hotel against a dramatic volcanic headland — visible in the aerial as a palm-crowned promontory of dark rock dropping sheer into turquoise water — without the buildings competing with geology that has no interest in being outperformed. The answer is horizontal deference, structures kept low and pale, the tensile canopies doing the expressive work while the guest pavilions stay quiet behind them. Inside, the rooms sustain that restraint with considerable skill. Wide-plank timber floors in a warm blonde tone, linen-sheeted low-profile beds, and pairs of woven rattan lounge chairs arranged around cylindrical timber coffee tables carry a Scandinavian-tropical register that sidesteps both the overwrought planter aesthetic and the cold minimalism that afflicts too many white-wall beach hotels. The defining gesture in the guestrooms is the fenestration: floor-to-ceiling glazing framed by an arched or curved soffit that shapes the ocean view like a lens, sheer curtains softening the light without obscuring it. On the beachfront terrace, teak dining furniture sits beneath the same sweeping canopy forms seen from the water, the structure functioning simultaneously as shade, identity, and horizon-frame.

"Our stay at the Silversands Beach House in Grenada was a perfect winter escape. It was intentional luxury - focusing their facilities and amenities in all the right places. Most notable was the perfect little beach we spent every single day at, switching between the pool deck and the 30 foot walk to the beach with absolute ease because the top notch service made towels, beach chairs, sunscreen, and beachside menus feel instantly available. It's undeniably 5 star service. It's a brand new hotel and everything feels like it, which in my opinion is underrated. The ability to flexibly visit the sister hotel was very much a 2 for 1 experience. What's better than getting access to 1 luxury beach? --- 2! I could probably go on a bit longer but to get to the point it was the best hotel experience I've ever had."

"Traveling solo, I’m always mindful of how a property makes a guest feel—and Silversands Beach House truly exceeded expectations. From the moment I arrived, there was an immediate sense of calm, warmth, and understated luxury. The property itself is absolutely beautiful—thoughtfully designed, intimate, and perfectly positioned above a stunning, secluded beach. My room was spacious, serene, and impeccably styled, with a beautiful wrap around outdoor sitting area, that made it hard to leave each morning. The beach felt private, with crystal-clear water and a peaceful atmosphere that made it ideal for fully unwinding. What truly sets this place apart, however, is the people. Micah provided a warm welcome and helped curate excursions that made my stay seamless and personalized. Christopher was consistently attentive and ensured everything—from daily needs to my airport departure—was smooth and stress-free. At Azzurro, Jedel, Shanell, and Reanna made every meal feel welcoming and enjoyable, while Lyndon at the bar added great energy and expertly crafted drinks. Gary and Keyon at the beach and pool were always a step ahead, making sure I had everything I needed. I also appreciated seeing Clarista, the resort manager, regularly checking in with guests—it speaks volumes about the level of care here. As a solo traveler, I felt completely at ease—looked after without ever feeling overwhelmed. The balance of privacy, beauty, and genuine hospitality is something special. A true extension of your family! An exceptional experience from start to finish, and one I would highly recommend—especially for those traveling on their own. Thanks for a great week! Can’t wait to see you soon! Melissa"

"My wife and I stayed at Silversands Beach House from March 21–28 to celebrate her 40th birthday, and it ended up being exactly what we needed. This was our first trip without our kid in four years, so the goal was simple: completely unplug, sit on a beach, and relax. No excursions, no packed schedule, no pressure to do anything. Just reset. This place delivered on that perfectly. The resort itself is stunning. It’s small, modern, and beautifully designed with a really intentional, intimate feel. The entire property feels peaceful and tucked away. The beach is small, private, and absolutely gorgeous. It never felt crowded, and since there are only two resorts on that stretch, it almost feels like your own little slice of paradise. The water is surreal. Crystal clear, perfectly calm, and honestly bathtub warm. They have rafts available so you can just float out there for hours, which quickly became one of our favorite parts of the trip. We stayed in Bungalow 15, which sits up on the hill. It’s a bit of a walk up and down to get to the beach, restaurant, and lobby, but the front desk team was always incredibly responsive with golf cart rides whenever we didn’t feel like making the trek. Never an issue, always easy. What really makes this place special though is the people. At Azzurro, Reanna was an absolute standout. She was warm, attentive, and genuinely a ray of sunshine every morning. It’s the kind of energy that sets the tone for your entire day. On the beach and at the bar, Gary, Romeo, and Keyon were incredible. They somehow managed to keep everything running seamlessly while making sure we were always taken care of. Drinks were always flowing, service was on point, and you can tell how hard those guys work. Micah at the front desk was also amazing. He helped coordinate everything from dinner reservations to taxis to (very importantly) helping us figure out how to catch a movie while we were there. He even let me dig through the lost and found book stash when I ran out of reading material toward the end of the trip, which was a clutch save. And Clarista tied it all together. She always made sure we felt taken care of, relaxed, and completely carefree throughout the stay. Just an incredibly thoughtful presence. We also each got 90-minute massages, which were exactly what we needed. Super relaxing and a perfect addition to a week that was all about slowing down. One unexpected bonus: the hotel is less than 5 minutes from the airport, but you would never know it. We didn’t hear a single plane the entire time. It made departure day amazing. We were able to fully enjoy the beach until about 1pm and still comfortably make our 3:30 flight. Felt like we squeezed in a whole extra beach day. All in all, if you’re looking for a place to truly unwind, disconnect, and be taken care of without any chaos or crowds, this is it. Couldn’t recommend it more."
