PB hotel design editorial

Simeon Halstead's brief for Six Senses La Sagesse Grenada was, in essence, an act of restraint: build 71 keys across 38 acres of Grenada's southeastern coast without a single structure rising above the palm canopy. Opened in 2024, the resort sits on two distinct landforms — a dramatic headland of cream-rendered pavilions stepping down toward the Indian Ocean blue of La Sagesse Bay, and a lower garden precinct gathered around a pool terrace that looks out across the arc of a protected beach. The massing throughout suggests a Caribbean village that grew organically over time, thatched pavilion roofs and low cream walls dissolving into the surrounding scrub and palm groves. Bleu Design Consultants brought the interiors into careful alignment with the landscape outside. Rooms are fitted with warm walnut-toned furniture in a mid-century tropical mode — louvered wardrobe doors, rattan accent chairs, woven basket planters, blue-check linen throws against white bedding — everything scaled to feel residential. Light oak-finish flooring runs through the suites, pale enough to hold the reflected glare off the water without heating the space. On the beach terrace, teak dining chairs in a classic wishbone profile pull up to slate-topped tables under a thatch shade structure, the Indian Ocean framed between coconut palms. Underfoot, garden paths are laid with nutmeg shells and cocoa skins, a detail that places the resort squarely on the Spice Island it was built to celebrate.
