PB hotel design editorial

At the junction of Ferenciek tere and Kígyó utca in Budapest's Belváros district, a Moorish-Gothic palace completed in 1909 to designs by Henrik Schmahl stops pedestrians cold — its limestone facade layered with ogival arches, ornamental turrets, and gilded tracery that places it in a uniquely Hungarian conversation between Viennese Secession and Oriental Revival. The building was conceived as a commercial arcade and apartment complex, and its inner passage — a double-height iron-and-glass atrium with ribbed vaulting, intricate cast ironwork balconies, and original geometric tilework underfoot — survives as one of Central Europe's most intact Jugendstil interiors. The Parisi Udvar Hotel Budapest, which joined the Autograph Collection under Marriott's umbrella when it reopened in 2019 after a decade of closure, was restored by the Budapest-based practice Zaha Hadid Architects' local collaborators alongside conservation specialists, with interior design handled by GA Design of London across its 110 rooms. GA Design's approach across the guestrooms threads a restrained contemporary vocabulary through the building's extravagance — padded leather headboards in warm champagne tones, ebonised console tables with brass detailing, herringbone oak floors, and geometric lattice-patterned carpets that echo the tilework below without mimicking it directly. The restaurant interior visible in the images deploys a coffered bronze ceiling above leather banquette seating and a curved black marble bar, the whole space dense with atmosphere and clearly at ease with the building's ornamental confidence. The original arcade passage, now a café and retail galleria, remains the property's true centrepiece.

Párisi Udvar Hotel Budapest Reviews

"My family and I had a truly memorable stay at Párisi Udvar Hotel Budapest from July 13 to July 17. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by what was, without question, one of the most breathtaking hotel interiors we have ever seen. The building is magnificent, with grand architecture and an atmosphere that feels both majestic and inviting. Our room was impeccably clean throughout our stay and remarkably quiet despite the hotel’s popularity and central location. Housekeeping was excellent, with a full cleaning each morning followed by a thoughtful turndown service each evening, and every detail was carefully considered. The amenities felt tasteful and thoughtfully curated, with Chopard toiletries, refined linens, and remote-controlled blinds that added both comfort and convenience. The location is outstanding. Nearly everything Budapest has to offer is within walking distance, making it effortless to explore the city on foot. Upon arrival, we experienced a misunderstanding regarding the private transfer we had booked through the hotel from Budapest-Keleti train station. We had been told by the hotel team that the transfer service would be charged to our room and settled at check-out, but the driver unexpectedly requested immediate payment in cash. Since this contradicted what we had been told, we asked him to accompany us to the front desk so the matter could be clarified. The Guest Relations representative and front desk staff immediately recognized that this was a highly unusual situation and handled it with remarkable professionalism. They resolved everything quickly, sincerely apologized multiple times for the inconvenience, and made sure the experience did not affect the rest of our stay. What also distinguishes the hotel is its people. The Guest Relations representative provided thoughtful restaurant recommendations and local tips that felt personal and genuinely insightful, and throughout our stay, the front desk team remembered us and greeted us warmly every time we returned to the hotel. Those small gestures made us feel genuinely welcomed and elevated the entire experience. Párisi Udvar is certainly on the expensive side, but we all agreed that it was worth every penny. In our opinion, only the Four Seasons Gresham Palace rivals the overall hotel experience in Budapest. Between its breathtaking architecture, exceptional service, and outstanding location, we would gladly stay at the Párisi Udvar again."
