"We had an excellent 5-night stay at the Reykjavik Consulate Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton prior to our Viking circumnavigate Iceland cruise. Arriving mid-morning from the US, the front desk representative was so welcoming. She held our luggage and contacted us when our room was ready. She also provided info. on lunch options nearby. Being upper-level Hilton Honors members, we enjoyed daily complimentary breakfast and 2 drinks (wine for us) in the bar each evening before heading out on the town for dinner. The breakfast room was very nice with many items to choose from and the staff there were efficient and helpful. The bar/dining room was comfortable and the bartenders were friendly. We stayed in the Diplomat suite, #412 top floor, to be sure we had windows to open (2 balconies actually were in the room) as we read reviews that the rooms could get quite warm due to the geothermal. The room was warm, so we opened the balcony doors when needed. The room was dark enough to sleep and was very quiet and comfortable which was great. The hotel is in a central location so we walked almost everywhere to explore the sights, get lunch/dinner, shop and enjoy evening entertainment. The front desk staff called for taxis for us when needed (Perlan museum and airport) and they arrived very promptly. Close by there are good mini-markets, Subway and many nice restaurants and bars. The staff members were pleasant and very attentive to our needs. I highly recommend this hotel."

"We had a basic room which was small but adequate for the two of us. We were located above the famous hot dog stand which was always quite busy but did not disturb us at all. The room seems pretty soundproof. The public spaces in the hotel are beautiful and we had a wonderful dinner in the small restaurant/bar/lounge. I would definitely stay here again."

"At check in was told our room was upgraded but was not true. Asked why they would lie to us, answer was the receptionist was new. No apology. Asked how much this upgraded room cost. Lied again saying 60,000. When looked at website, said 48,000. Such a sad start to our holiday"

"Wonderful experience. The room was very clean and well appointed. The breakfast was tasty and open from 7 - 11 which we really appreciated. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bathhouse/hottub was soothing and relaxing. Note that the "hot tub" doesn't have but jets but we didn't miss it at all. The location was good too. One of my favorite things was that it had two comforters - one for each side of the bed so my partner and I didn't have to fight over the blanket! I do wish however that there was a top sheet so that when it got warm at night I could just use the sheet. A small complaint given how good everything else was!"
