PB hotel design editorial

Rising above the canopy of Ulsoor Lake on Bengaluru's MG Road corridor, a curved glass tower clad in warm sandstone at its podium levels gives Conrad Bengaluru a profile that reads as civic gesture as much as commercial statement. The 285-room property, which opened in 2017, was developed by Prestige Group and rises across 26 floors, its elliptical plan stepping back from a low-rise podium that contains the restaurants and event spaces. The building's massing, visible in the aerial image at dusk, places the tower above a stone-faced base — pale buff granite at street level transitioning to a curtain wall of gridded glass above — with the podium roof terrace carrying an outdoor pool flanked by dark timber cabana structures arranged in a geometry that softens what might otherwise be a hard commercial edge. Inside, the interiors work a language of grey-veined marble flooring, woven wall panels in warm taupe, and upholstered headboards set into deeply coffered ceilings — a palette that keeps the rooms calm without reading as neutral. The guest rooms facing Ulsoor Lake frame the water and the tree line beyond through floor-to-ceiling glass, the view doing substantial work against interiors that favour dark timber joinery and smoked marble console surfaces. The all-day dining restaurant, finished in striated wood panelling, dark slate flooring, and rattan-backed dining chairs, extends toward bamboo plantings visible through full-height glazing — an approach to bringing Bengaluru's garden-city identity indoors that remains the property's most considered design move.

"My stay at Conrad Bengaluru was truly exceptional. The hotel is spacious, beautifully designed, and offers stunning views of Ulsoor Lake and the city skyline, making it both relaxing and inspiring. From the very beginning, the experience was seamless thanks to Abneesh Rana, the manager, who provided great help with the booking and ensured everything was perfectly arranged. The service throughout my stay was outstanding. Special appreciation goes to Ajar, Bijay, Abeerose, Mero, Tonia, Malay, Lochebenny, Rimpa, and the talented chefs Rutem and Pankoff at Caraway Kitchen. Their warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail made dining a highlight of the visit. Overall, Conrad Bengaluru combines spacious comfort, breathtaking views, and world-class hospitality. With such dedicated staff and thoughtful service, it’s a hotel I would gladly return to and recommend to anyone visiting the city."

"I spent five nights at Conrad Bengaluru, which is clearly one of the busier Hilton properties in India, and what stayed with me most was not the building, but the people. The Executive Lounge team was the heart of the experience. Samson and Tao were the standouts for me. Both were polished, attentive, and seemed to anticipate needs before they even had to be spoken. That is a rare skill, and one that separates good service from truly memorable hospitality. Judith was also excellent, and Bhargavy, who was still in training, was already making a very positive impression. If he seemed a little shy or nervous at times, that was simply because he was new. Chef Utam added a great touch to the lounge as well, and Sharanya, the Guest Experience Manager, helped round out a team that consistently made the stay feel cared for. At the front desk, Mannat and Leeroy were exactly what you hope for in a hotel of this level: efficient, capable, and always ahead of the moment. Reddy in the lobby was another face I appreciated seeing. He may still have been learning, but he always had a welcoming smile and the right attitude. I genuinely hope he, and many of the younger staff here, stay in hospitality and do very well in it. A special mention also goes to Chef Ramnik in the Indian restaurant. I met him on the first day and continued seeing him throughout my stay, and the evening we dined in the specialty restaurant he made sure we were treated like VIPs. That kind of consistency leaves an impression. I would also be remiss not to mention Shiva, the doorman, whose warm welcome and striking traditional safa-style turban gave the hotel a wonderful first and last impression every time I passed through the entrance. One of my more unexpected moments came from Samson. He carries himself in such a serious and composed way that you would never guess he enjoys singing Indian music. When I commented on the music playing in the Executive Lounge, he casually started singing along. It caught me off guard in the best way and made the interaction even more memorable. For Hilton Honors Diamond members, one practical note: this was the only Hilton-branded hotel during my India travels where I did not receive a meaningful upgrade. I do not say that as a complaint. This is a very busy property, and I mention it simply so others keep expectations realistic. At a hotel with this level of demand, upgrades are clearly not always possible. Because I come from a hospitality background and travel often, I tend to notice the smaller operational details as much as the larger ones. In that spirit, one area management may want to revisit is the quality of the toilet paper and some of the bath towels, which felt a bit tired for a hotel of this caliber. Bengaluru has several Hilton-flagged options, but if I return, I would choose the Conrad again because of the people named above. They are what made the stay worth remembering."
