"Wah Taj Exotica Resort and Spa, Goa!!!
Composing this review with an anguish, as this was what I did not expect from Taj.
Good points in brief: Excellent property with spacious rooms, smiling staff, efficient room services, 3 pools (one of them is a heated pool), jacuzzi, lovely beach.
Improvement required: No lift available. Lobby, one restaurant and some rooms are at a higher level and buffet restaurant and some rooms, beach facilities, Lobster restaurant are at a lower level. My mother who has difficulty in walking had to use buggies. To reach the buggies from the room requires using some stairs. This shows that Exotica brand failed to make the guests with physical difficulties comfortable on their property.
Finally coming to the main issue:
I had booked three rooms through the Tata Neu app for the following dates: 07-11 March 2026. As I have the Silver Tier privileges, the reservation included 10% discount on food and beverages. On checking out time, I was shown the final invoice on the iPad. I asked the staff to make sure that the entitled discounts have been included. She informed me that all discounts have been applied and this is the final invoice. After the payment was done, she informed me that the invoice will be mailed to me. Till next day morning no invoice sent. I then contacted the resort by mail and phone. The typical polite answer was “It will be sent soon”. After another round of complaints, I finally received the invoice. As the details bills were not forwarded, I asked for the detailed bills. Finally, they were mailed to me in the evening. I noticed that some of the Food bills were not discounted and beverages were not at all discounted.
I took up the matter again with the Resort. Finally, the GM accepted that it was a software glitch. The missed food discounts will be refunded. However, there is no mention of refunding the discount amount on beverages. On questioning about this lapse, the GM had no explanation.
My concern:
If I had not scrutinized the invoice and bills thoroughly, I would have lost this amount. Taj thought that if I forget about the invoice, the matter will go unnoticed. If the check-out staff of Taj Exotica Resort and Spa, Goa confidently states that all things are in order, then usually a customer will accept it and will not scrutinize the invoice further. Now, it seems that Taj brand cannot be trusted. We must scrutinize each bill, like how we do at a small shop.
The Resort has a very stiff penalty for cancellation of the reservation (entire amount to be paid if cancelled within 14 days from the intended stay date). If they have failed in providing the correct invoice, what penalty Taj is applying on the Hotel Management?
Advice to the guests of the Resort:
Be careful when you sign out the bills at the restaurants/ pool/ spa/ in room dining. Don’t assume that the bill is correct.
Guests who have already visited the property: Please check your invoice and detailed bills. You might have not been billed correctly. Claim back your dues.
Last line: Taj has lost its dignity. I never expected this to happen in a branded resort, which they are proudly touting as “World’s Strongest Hotel Brand 2025”. Shame on you for cheating a senior citizen and an Indian Air Force Veteran. It should be now called the “World’s most Untrusted Hotel Brand 2026”."
