PB hotel design editorial

Spread across 76 acres of laterite-soil coastline at Mobor Beach, where the Sal River meets the Arabian Sea in southern Goa, The St. Regis Goa Resort arranges its 255 rooms and villas across low-rise terracotta-roofed pavilions that dissolve into dense coconut groves rather than asserting any single architectural gesture. The aerial view makes the logic clear: clusters of warm-ochre buildings threaded through lily ponds and mature tropical planting, a nine-hole golf course pressing toward the beach, the whole composition scaled to feel more like a private estate than a resort campus. Inside, the interiors draw on a colonial-tropical vernacular that suits the Goan context — dark-stained four-poster beds with barley-twist detailing, ebonised hardwood floors anchored by natural jute rugs, and accents in burnt orange and amber that echo the laterite palette outside. Coffered ceilings with concealed uplighting give the villa rooms a pavilion quality, ceiling fans reinforcing the sense of a well-appointed plantation house updated for contemporary comfort. The beach restaurant, sheltered beneath a pitched palm-thatch roof supported by rope-wrapped columns, frames the Arabian Sea at the horizon through open sides — flagstone floors and woven-rattan chairs keeping the material language rooted in coastal Goa rather than reaching for generic resort luxury. A long rectangular lap pool, edged in pale sandstone and framed by frangipani and sea almond, draws the eye directly toward the fairways and the sea beyond.

"We had 9 nights of wonderful relaxing time at the St Regis. Every single person who works there is smiling and helpful, from the people who tend to all the plants and greenery around the huge property to all the senior managers. We had booked full board and the buffet offerings at the Miri are amazing especially the desserts! So many delicious looking desserts and pastries and most of them pure vegetarian ( egg free ) chef Santosh also made us what ever we desired. We asked for bajra roti with baighan bharta and the Manager, Rijol, ensured that his staff went out of their way to source bajra flour for us. I was overwhelmed with this excellent service. We also enjoyed the magnificent spread of food at the Sunday brunch. Special shout out to our waiters Mahesh and Suraj and our friendly and kind butler Yash. Our housekeeping staff, Moon, Melvin and Priya surprised us each day with their creative skills with towels and flowers! We also enjoyed 6 days of massage at the SPA and were left feeling relaxed. Dr Girish curated a special massage package to help my husband with his knee pain. Well done to the whole team who work there! The resort is very tropical with statues of Ganesh, Shiva and Radha Krishna and various ponds full of pink lilies. The resort is also full of lots of fruit and herbs and we enjoyed the guided nature walk and the kind man (Sorry forgot the name) who took us around and ended our tour with fresh coconut juice! Thank you so much. The beach is soft and powdery and stretches out wide and long and the sea is blue and beautiful. We enjoyed sitting under a parasol with the gentle breeze blowing. We also enjoyed the use of the pool with canopy beds. There are yoga sessions run each day in the mornings and 6pm champagne sabering sessions on the beach. It was pure paradise on earth. We will definitely return again."

"We stayed for 3 weeks and didn’t want to leave! Breakfast was superb with Miriam and her colleagues welcoming us every morning. The choice was superb and service was very good, although sometimes refills of tea and coffee could be tardy. A special thanks to Romen who looked after us so well. The grounds are stunning and what a pleasure to be greeted by every staff member with a smile and a hello. The lady gardeners are stars! So much better than noisy leaf blowers but hard work in the heat! Judith the assistant manager was so helpful and efficient- we really appreciated her assistance. We ate at the beach shacks - notably Mike’s and Pearls. We so enjoyed our stay we rebooked for 2027 before we left for the UK!"

"We had a beautiful stay at this resort in Goa and truly enjoyed every moment. The property itself is peaceful, well maintained, and perfectly located for a relaxing getaway. The atmosphere made it easy to slow down and fully enjoy the experience. What made our stay especially memorable was the incredible service. Saheli took such great care of us throughout our time at the resort. She was warm, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful, always making sure we had everything we needed and offering helpful suggestions along the way. Her kindness and professionalism really stood out and made us feel very welcomed. It’s the people who create the experience, and Saheli absolutely elevated ours. We’re so grateful for the care and hospitality we received. We would happily recommend this resort to anyone visiting Goa and would love to return again in the future."

"Our stay at the St Regis was absolutely fantastic in every way and without having to list all the reasons I’ll sum it up in a few words. Within 24 hours of returning home we booked to go next year. Nothing more to say"

"Exceptional Service and a Beautiful Resort Experience From the moment we arrived at The St. Regis Goa Resort, the experience was exceptional. We arrived quite late in the evening after a long journey, tired and hungry, but the staff immediately made us feel welcome and taken care of. As soon as we arrived, the team kindly directed us to the buffet restaurant so we could eat straight away. Shortly after we sat down, the chef, Santosh, came out personally to greet us. I was a little concerned about what my elderly parents would be able to eat, as they are both over 75 and my father has some difficulty with his teeth. Chef Santosh listened carefully and very kindly prepared exactly what my father requested so he could enjoy his meal comfortably. It was such a thoughtful gesture. The buffet itself was fantastic – an incredible variety of dishes from different cuisines around the world, all beautifully prepared. Everything we tried was delicious. I also had the opportunity to dine at the Italian restaurant and the Pan Asian restaurant, and the food in both was absolutely outstanding and some of the best meals I've had during our entire trip. In the Pan Asian restaurant especially, the waiter took the time to listen carefully to my dietary needs and made sure everything I ordered was suitable and accommodating. That level of attentiveness really stood out. The restaurant staff were also incredibly attentive and kind. Suraj was especially wonderful, very patient and happy to chat with my father (who loves a good conversation!). Another staff member, who I believe may have been Manoj (apologies if I have the name slightly wrong), showed such genuine care. While my parents were in the buffet restaurant and I was dining in the Italian restaurant, he approached them and reassured them that their daughter was just having dessert and would be back shortly. That small gesture meant so much and made me feel that my parents were truly being looked after. Outside the lobby, another wonderful staff member named Dilkush greeted us each day with such warmth. He and my father would chat for ages and it became one of the highlights of our stay. We also appreciated Juma, who helped us arrange taxis and get around Goa safely, always checking that we were comfortable and looked after. There are honestly many more staff members who deserve recognition, even if I cannot remember every name. To the management at Marriott and The St. Regis – please continue to take care of your staff the way you clearly do. The level of service across the entire resort was outstanding, and it reflects a team that feels valued and proud of their work. The resort itself is stunning, beautifully maintained grounds, lush greenery, incredible nature, and a gorgeous beach. Everything about the environment feels peaceful and luxurious. I have stayed in many grand hotels around the world, but the warmth and genuine care from the team here truly stood out. It made our stay unforgettable. Thank you to everyone at The St. Regis Goa Resort for such a wonderful experience."
