PB hotel design editorial

Once a hunting lodge built for the Maharaja of Jaipur in 1835, then a royal residence, then a guest house for visiting dignitaries, the building that became Rambagh Palace carried three distinct lives before the Taj Hotels group converted it into a hotel in 1957. That layered history is precisely what gives the property its atmosphere — the pale sandstone facades, arched colonnades, and chattri-topped pavilions visible across its fourteen acres were not designed for hospitality but for ceremonial grandeur, and that distinction still registers in every proportion. The interiors sustain the register established outside. Guest rooms are dressed in dark teak four-poster beds with carved headboards, hand-knotted Rajasthani carpets, and large-format marble floors that keep the rooms cool and luminous simultaneously. Walls carry friezes of fine plasterwork, and in the higher-category suites a bead-curtained headboard panel evokes the craftsmanship traditions of the Jaipur court. The pool terrace introduces a more relaxed rhythm — a long swimming pool fed by a ripple channel paved in pale stone, ringed by clipped hedges and mature trees with peacock-printed umbrellas threading in the Rajput vocabulary. The polo bar, its ceiling painted in green and ivory tent stripes above a mosaic floor fountain, draws directly on the Jaipur royal family's well-documented equestrian traditions. Across its 78 rooms and suites, Rambagh Palace holds its palatial origins without apology.

"Our one-day stay at Rambagh Palace was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the warmth of the hospitality stood out. The suite was elegant and spacious, and the complimentary upgrade—graciously accommodated prior to our arrival—made the experience even more special. The experience was elevated by beautifully curated moments—the serene peacock feeding sessions, wonderfully managed by Manvendra and the graceful evening ritual. The highlight was the birthday celebration for my wife at the Chamber of Princes, thoughtfully envisioned by Priya. Misbah was equally helpful and gracious in her hospitality, adding to the overall warmth of our stay. The personalised touches, including a lovely photo album from the celebration, made the occasion truly memorable. The culinary experience was delightful. Prem Bhati Ji, who served us, stood out for his gracious and genuinely caring attitude towards guests, and the food prepared by Kuldeep Ji was excellent. A special mention as well to the gentleman from Jodhpur at breakfast, whose name I unfortunately missed, and to Himanshi at the time of departure. A stay that truly lives up to its royal legacy and leaves you with memories to cherish."

"Just spent 6 nights at the amazing Rambagh Palace which was my 6th stay at this most amazing property. On arrival as allways the welcome makes you feel regal and very welcome , rose petals and jasmine garland which the fragrance is devine . Was advised we had been upgrade to a suite and after a refreshing drink we were walked to our room (sheesh Mahal) , which was a lovely surprise and a very regal room . Next stop the verandah for a relaxing drink and some food , we were greeted by our friend of 10 years , Anslem . This man is a credit to the Hotel , I am proud to call him my friend . The next 5 days were just amazing , the food , the pool , the grounds all just absolutely top quality . But what makes this hotel is the staff, Unfortunately I never remember names , Break fast in the rajput room is just the best start to the day , the staff so attentive and the breakfast spread amazing. Food at verandah , just the best place to sit and relax with food chosen by Anslem , he never disappoints . The other verandah staff were all amazing, the young lady was never too busy for a nice chat and we loved her bubbly manner . Polo bar ,the best cocktails in the world in a very relaxed environment which we loved every evening before dinner .again staff amazing . We used the pool most days to relax after hot days , Manish , and his team are so good , Sunil kept the cold beer coming !! It was my wife’s birthday on second night and we were treated to private dining on the lawn , the setting was perfect , the food was perfect , the wine was perfect . The service above and beyond . Anslem arranged all of this , and I am so grateful to him for providing a wonderful evening The next 5 days weer just amazing . The hotel manage Praseed , a lovely man who allways engaged . This hotel is Taj at its best All the staff deserve a special mention , please thank my friend Anslem who is an absolute treasure and a jewel of the Rambagh Until next time , thank you everyone ."
