PB hotel design editorial

Rajasthani palace architecture reinterpreted through a contemporary lens — white stucco domes, arched colonnades, and a ceremonial staircase flanked by stone torchères that mirror themselves in a broad reflecting pool at dusk — gives the Trident Gurgaon its most arresting quality: the suggestion of an older, grander India rendered in an idiom that is entirely of the twenty-first century. Designed by the Oberoi Group's in-house design team and opened in 2003 in the corporate heart of Gurgaon, the 136-room property translates Mughal compositional principles — bilateral symmetry, water as a structural element, the processional approach — into a low-rise sandstone and plaster complex that feels more ceremonial compound than commercial hotel. Inside, the language shifts toward a calibrated warmth. Guest rooms carry honey-toned timber panelling set against warm white walls, with tall arched windows framing the frangipani-planted courtyard below; the upholstery runs to ochre, sage, and tobacco — a palette drawn from Rajasthani earth pigments rather than international hotel neutrals. The all-day dining restaurant deploys a more graphic sensibility: a chequerboard floor in grey and white marble, a white Carraway bar counter, and deep red leather armchairs arranged beneath vaulted arches articulated by patinated bronze column-like sconces. The overall effect, across both architecture and interiors, is of Mughal formality made hospitable — monumental in gesture, domestic in grain.

"Beyond the stunning property and the wonderful stay, the staff at Trident, Gurgaon went out of their way to provide an incredibly welcoming experience. Every single request we had was met with a positive response, and they truly did everything in their power to make it happen. I originally booked this hotel to spoil my son, at the end of a long trip, and the team made sure he was treated like royalty. They graciously accommodated a very early check-in for him so he could rest. Since he had an early morning flight out of Delhi, they even agreed to shift his included breakfast to his day of arrival instead of his departure day. On top of that, completely unprompted and without us even asking, they prepared a lavish packed meal for him to take on his flight! Beyond this unmatched hospitality, the hotel itself is absolutely gorgeous, the food is excellent, and its close proximity to the Delhi airport is a massive advantage. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough!"

"Excellent location, immensely clean and very comfortable hotel with great food ,comfortable rooms with beautiful pool and garden views. There is no urge to leave the hotel boundary walls as the Trident has Lyrah an open air bar and great sounds, as for the Oberoi hotel adjoining the Trident minutes walk away ,has a excellent bar and cocktails venue called Lord Vespers as well an amazing restaurant Madam Chows run by head Chef Mr Wong , which does excellent brunch menus, the Dim Sum is to dye for, both venues have great views and a huge water feature reflecting the lights coming from the Oberoi hotel glass and steel structure ,i was very impressed,a great photo opportunity to remember a stay, dinner or an event at the hotel."
