PB hotel design editorial

Directly across from Dublin Castle, on the cobbled stretch of Lower Exchange Street where the city's administrative heart has concentrated power for centuries, The Chancery Dublin established itself in a purpose-built contemporary structure whose dark brick facade and black steel window frames take their cues from Georgian warehouse vernacular rather than imposing anything foreign onto the streetscape. The massing steps back at upper floors, allowing terrace rooms to open onto unobstructed views across the rooftops toward City Hall and the dome of the Four Courts — a panorama visible in the images that places guests within the legible geography of the old city. Inside, the interiors move between a warm mid-century register and something livelier. Guest rooms carry walnut joinery, forest-green upholstered headboards, brass pendant fittings, and herringbone oak floors — a considered palette that avoids the generic. The bar takes a more theatrical turn: a grid of amber-lit oval ceiling recesses casts the room in the burnished glow of a 1970s supper club, anchored by curved velvet banquette seating and fluted dark-stone columns. The restaurant opens onto a courtyard garden framed by a dry-stone rubble wall, its organic ceiling canopy in pale timber lending the space an almost Nordic calm. Throughout, green — deep bottle to sage — threads the scheme together as a quiet nod to the country just beyond the cobblestones outside.

The Chancery Dublin Reviews

"I had a fantastic stay at The Chancery Hotel in Dublin. From the moment I arrived, everything felt seamless and welcoming. The hotel itself is beautiful — modern, comfortable, and perfectly located for exploring the city — but what really made the experience exceptional was the staff. After I got to my next destination, I realized I had left my laptop behind in the room. I was honestly expecting a stressful situation, but the team at The Chancery handled it with incredible professionalism and care. They went completely above and beyond to help me arrange shipping and made sure my laptop was safely sent to Barcelona. The communication throughout was prompt, clear, and reassuring. A special shoutout to Flavia — she is an absolute rockstar. She was kind, proactive, and genuinely invested in making sure everything was resolved smoothly. It’s rare to find that level of dedication and warmth. Excellent all around. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend The Chancery Hotel to anyone visiting Dublin. Truly outstanding service."

"I had an excellent stay at The Chancery. I travel to Dublin frequently for work and hadn’t found a hotel I wanted to return to—until now. After this visit, I’m genuinely excited to come back and plan to stay here every time. The hotel itself is fantastic, with beautiful rooms and impressive in-room technology. A special thank you to Alejandra, who went above and beyond by arranging an amazing takeaway breakfast for me to enjoy in my room - thank you so much! 10/10 stay - I love it here!"

"We recently stayed for 4 nights with our friends. Two Delux King rooms rooms on level 5. The hotel is quite new and centrally located. Ideal for walking to the shops, fish-and-chips shop, Temple Bar, Cathedral, and along the river all the way to the 3 Arena. We received excellent attentive service from all the staff we encountered, from check-in (Daryl - is a star employee) to the staff in the very relaxing bar area, where we had drinks each night. The bar atmosphere, high-quality chairs, etc., with the soothing music, was spot on Our room was clean and 'fresh' with good quality furnishings. The bed/mattress is of high quality. We found it fun getting on the bed due to its height off the floor - it's an art to remember to slide off the bed safely too. Everything is quite new with a fair bit of technology built into the room, including a panel to control the lighting, curtains, and bathroom door. Be careful when sitting on the toilet... the toilet door opened frequently as the sensor is positioned near the toilet and is very sensitive (your body will trigger the door to open about 8 inches away), haha! There is a kettle, all the usual complimentary teas, coffees, biscuits, and small chocolates were great! Mini fridge with complimentary water daily. I requested the hypoallergenic pillows, which were very good. Unfortunately, only three stars for housekeeping during our 4-day stay, as the room was not made up/cleaned on 2 of the days. We had to request a room cleaning service late on both days, which was very disappointing. The first time it happened it was our fault - we'd inadvertently clicked on the 'red Do not disturb' button. The second time it happened, the 'green service room' button was activated. Technology is great when it works properly...shame there are no old-fashioned 'card signs' to hang off the door... fool-proof!! Our friends' room was also not cleaned (their service room button was on), and they also had to request a room clean late in the day, the same day as ours. Not great...maybe the housekeeping team are getting confused with the fancy technology...haha!!! The electronic signs are quite small to see, especially when it's light/sunny. Apart from the above inconvenience, the hotel is lovely, is in a great location, new and modern, and definitely a strong 4-star, verging on 5. All the staff we met were very attentive, friendly and accommodating too. We would recommend the hotel and stay again when returning to Dublin..! But please do bring back the good old-fashioned 'service room / do not disturb door hanging cards...!! Thank you."

"Awesome location, small but beautifully appointed clean rooms and amazing Staff! We can't say enough good about the Chancery Hotel in Dublin. Located half a block from Dublin Castle with easy access to city centre. It truly felt like a home away from home. We were treated exceptionally well by every Staff member and our every need was attended to in a pleasant and professional manner. It felt like an understated boutique hotel with a great location, just far enough away from noise and the lively city centre."

"This hotel was marvelous. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The location was perfect - walking distance to just about every attraction, but on a quiet street. The cafe was a favorite part of our trip for breakfast and an end of day drink. Alejandra was so friendly and engaging. We really enjoyed talking with her. Georgia was very helpful, too. If I ever return to Dublin, I will definitely stay here again."
