PB hotel design editorial

Built in 1934 at the corner of Tel Aviv's Nachalat Binyamin Street, the curved white tower that houses The Poli House by Brown Hotels is one of the purest surviving examples of International Style architecture in a city that UNESCO designated a World Heritage Site for precisely this kind of building. The original structure, designed in the Bauhaus-influenced manner that European-trained architects brought to Mandatory Palestine in the 1930s, presents its characteristic rounded corner balconies, horizontal banding, and flat roof to the street with the confidence of a building that has always understood its own importance. What the renovation — carried out under the direction of Israeli designer Karim Rashid, who completed the interiors around 2016 — does is place that architectural inheritance in deliberate tension with a graphic Pop sensibility. Inside the hotel's 35 rooms, the collision is productive rather than jarring: all-white volumes are activated by acid-yellow seating, turquoise daybed upholstery, and sculpted oval mirrors set flush into the walls, while black-and-white chevron-patterned rugs and wave-relief headboard panels recall Rashid's signature appetite for optical pattern without overwhelming the compact proportions. The rooftop is the property's most assured gesture — a rooftop pool and bar terrace set against the Tel Aviv skyline, patterned cement tiles underfoot, a backlit curved bar in Corian white, and Moroccan-influenced lanterns casting warm light across wire-frame sun loungers. The whole thing holds together because the building was always modern, and Rashid simply pushed that fact forward.

"I am a local who stayed at The Poli House during the recent war, and I truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience during such a difficult time. The staff were incredibly sweet, welcoming, and accommodating — their kindness made a huge difference. The front desk manager in particular was so helpful and thoughtful throughout my stay. Shoutout to Matan, Dalia and Moshe too! The rooftop became a second home for me — it’s a beautiful space with a great pool and a peaceful atmosphere. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean and located in one of the best spots in Tel Aviv, right in the heart of everything. Unfortunately, the pool was understandably closed due to safety issues from sirens, but it was very soothing to look at. : ) I’m so grateful to the team for creating a safe, comforting, and warm environment. I’ll definitely recommend tourists to this hotel."

"My husband and I stayed at Poli House at the beginning of May, and we absolutely loved our experience! The hotel’s location is fantastic — just opposite Carmel Market, and a short walk from the beach, and so many great restaurants and shops. Also, right on the incredible vibrant Nachalat Binyamin, which also has a twice weekly craft market. It made exploring Tel Aviv incredibly easy and fun. The building itself is stunning, a beautifully restored Bauhaus with a modern, boutique feel. Our room was cozy and stylish, with all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. While the room was on the smaller side, it was thoughtfully designed and very clean. One of our favorite parts of the hotel was the rooftop infinity pool and bar. We spent several afternoons there, enjoying the amazing views of the city while swimming. We were especially impressed by the reception staff—Moshe, Olga, and Dali. They were incredibly warm, professional, and went out of their way to make us feel welcome and assist with all our needs. Dali went the extra mile to help us extend our stay when our flight was cancelled. All staff were so kind and helpful. It’s clear they take great pride in their work and genuinely care about guests’ experiences. This personal touch from the reception team was one of the highlights of our visit. Poli House was a wonderful choice for our Tel Aviv trip. We’d definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a stylish, centrally located hotel with a great social vibe and exceptional staff."
