PB hotel design editorial

Perched some 350 metres above the Tyrrhenian Sea on Ravello's clifftop plateau, a twelfth-century Moorish villa that once belonged to the Sasso family has spent the better part of a millennium accumulating layers of architectural biography. Palazzo Avino — known until 2012 as the Club Rossellinis — carries that history visibly in its salmon-pink facade, where Gothic-arched windows with their pointed lancet forms sit above terraced gardens that cascade down the hillside in a series of vine-clad retaining walls toward the sea far below. The 33-room property underwent a significant interior renovation under the direction of the Avino family, emerging with interiors that set pale celadon velvets, bespoke curved headboards, and bouclé armchairs against barrel-vaulted ceilings of whitewashed plaster — a palette borrowed from the coast itself, all sea-glass greens, terracotta, and dusty rose. The rooms shown in the images demonstrate a confidence with ornament that avoids period pastiche: antique walnut commodes are placed beside contemporary brass wall sconces, while custom rugs in abstract botanical patterns anchor spaces that feel genuinely residential rather than assembled. On the uppermost terrace, the open-air restaurant extends under a steel-framed pergola with wrought-iron scroll detailing, terracotta parquet underfoot, and views sweeping west toward the cape. Down at water level, a compact pool is carved into the rock face beside the sea, bougainvillea and ivy pressing against the cliff behind it.

"Exceptional property with even better staff/service. Was our first time to the Almalfi Coast, and didn't know what to expect - however this experience would have surpassed anything. 3 night stay in early May. Hotel, interior design, views and grounds are amazing and immaculately maintained - they could film a season of White Lotus here easily. Our Deluxe room was a little small - but the furnishings, view and experience canceled out any problem there. Meals were 5 star every time, and without exception every staff member were the nicest, welcoming professionals we encountered on our 10 day trip across Italy. Could go on and on - but for those that research reviews to determine where they will stay...we would not hesitate to recommend with highest remarks."

"We stayed here during our first visit to Ravello. We arrived here by taxi. Ravello is a typical hilltop town, so the roads here are narrow and winding. The appearance and the façade of the hotel is very pretty. The pink colour makes it stand out and in a tasteful fashion. The lobby is open and is elegantly appointed. Our arrival was as smooth as can be. Antonio Ferrara, who helped us throughout our stay was friendly, attentive and most courteous. Antonio never made us feel like we were but paying customers. He really did go out of his way and we really appreciated it. The outdoor plunge pool was fantastic as was the sitting area beside it. We didn’t have the opportunity to visit the indoor pool and spa. The rooms are tastefully appointed and show a lot of character. We always had small welcome treats, a bottle of their local wine (the hotel’s itself, showcasing the strong local ties) and the views from the balcony were breathtaking. The passageways, the restaurants and the décor were all brilliant. The character and the culture was definitely on display. The people responsible for the design definitely deserve considerable credit as the details are evident everywhere. Breakfast is delicious at the Rossellini’s. We didn’t have the opportunity to have dinner here but the menu looked amazing. This is a Michelin starred restaurant. We did dine at the terrace and the bartender was exceptionally skilled. There’s a private clubhouse by the sea around 10 minutes away by shuttle. I have to confess, we didn’t have anywhere near as much time to explore this hotel as we would’ve liked as we were busy exploring Ravello, and the town centre is a five minute walk from the hotel, as is the Villa Rufolo. However, both hubby and I have made up our minds to return and spend a good few days at this establishment and in this town. It has the makings of a perfect getaway. Lastly, we would also like to thank the effervescent Claudia along with Antonio for making our stay memorable. Grazie mille!"

"The hotel was amazing, it exceeded all my expectations..The service, the comfort, the food, the hospitality, it was simply fantastic, everything was simply beautiful, sophisticated, and wonderful. Every time we left our room, it was cleaned and we received little gifts, every time of the day, I loved every moment of it, and most of all, everything was pink."

"We have been coming here for many years, we love it and would never go anywhere else. Location is superb of course but the main strength of the hotel is the staff. Everyone, from the front desk, through housekeeping, restaurant, pool, spa - superb. My favourite spot is the roof, nice place to relax xx"
