PB hotel design editorial

Pressed directly against the north bank of the Arno, with the Ponte Vecchio close enough to frame through an open balcony door, Hotel Lungarno holds one of the most covetable addresses in Florence — a position that its owner, the Ferragamo family, has shaped with the same editorial confidence they bring to fashion. Salvatore Ferragamo acquired the property in 1995, and the interiors carry a clear authorial signature: a palette of Arno blue running through striped carpets, houndstooth upholstered chairs, and panelled walls in pale duck-egg, all set against ebony-lacquered furniture and white linen bedding with fine navy ticking. The 73 rooms and suites across four floors feel closer to a private Florentine apartment than a hotel corridor, the proportions domestic and unhurried. The restaurant, visible in the images, deploys tall arched steel-framed windows to frame the opposite bank at dusk, fashion illustration prints hung in ornate gilded frames against white panelling — a slightly theatrical move that suits the Ferragamo connection well. Terraces cantilevered over the water are furnished simply, letting the view do the work: ipe decking, white-clothed tables, and trailing jasmine against the warm pietra serena facade. Throughout, the design avoids the temptation to compete with the city outside, trusting instead that a well-proportioned room with shutters thrown open to the Arno is argument enough.

"If you want to feel pampered, stay here. Right in the heart of town, close enough to walk everywhere but just off the beaten path, this hotel is an oasis in a bustling city. The staff will make you feel like royalty. The beds are comfortable, the rooms spacious and luxurious. The bathroom is beautiful, good water pressure, lively towels. The elevators are quite tiny but very functional. Breakfast is a veritable feast with fresh made pastries, meats, cheeses, eggs, yogurts and the most delightful cappuccino. The concierge was so helpful arranging things for us before we arrived, setting us up with a wonderful private tour guide for the city and the Uffizi. There are sometimes free tours of the Ferragamo private rooms so pay attention for those. There are self serve and full service laundry across the street if you need. Highly recommend this hotel!"

"Our stay at Hotel Lungarno was unforgettable. We arrived to discover that our Booking.com reservation had been cancelled, and we expected our holiday to begin with disappointment. Instead, the hotel honored our original rate, even though prices had already increased significantly. That level of professionalism and generosity impressed us from the very beginning. A special thank you to Mr. Guido, General Manager, Robertos, Concierge, and Medi, Guest Relations Manager. Their kindness, professionalism, and genuine care made us feel truly welcome. We loved our beautiful room in the historic 12th-century tower, and every restaurant in the hotel was excellent. As an incredibly thoughtful gesture, the hotel even complimentary covered our restaurant charges at checkout simply to ensure we left with wonderful memories. Luxury is defined by people, not just beautiful buildings. Hotel Lungarno is a perfect example of true hospitality. We can’t wait to return."

"Hotel Lungarno is a gorgeous hotel! The location is perfect -- right on the Arno with a wonderful view. There is a restaurant on the water's edge and from the lobby the view is fantastic. The staff is incredibly kind. Our room was beautiful. One of my all time favorites. We had a family suite with a living room and bedroom. Normally the pull-out couches are left open for the duration of a trip. The cleaning staff put it away everyday so we could fully enjoy the space. Very clean. We heard no noise. I'd stay there again!"

"Our stay was amazing! The hotel is centrally located, making it easy to explore Florence on foot. Everything was spotless, and the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The complimentary breakfast was excellent, with fresh juices and a wonderful selection of vegetarian options, including delicious vegan cheeses. A special highlight was dining at the Michelin-starred Borgo San Jacopo. Chef Claudio Mengoni created an exceptional vegetarian dining experience that was both creative and unforgettable. I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again!"
